WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

First Easter since my time in the Marines that I'm not with family on Easter. Mom passed a while ago and no youngsters near by for the Easter egg hunt. At least the progress on my diet won't take a hit so there is that. I turned melancholy on the event a few minutes ago, before that I was good for skipping it this time. I think next year we need to make plans.

Some things said on TWH need to go away periodically.

I miss Wook's purple print. We need a theme between dark and light, perhaps what the default was with the old software.

Still cold outside, woke up to snow on the ground, I'm looking forward to mowing the lawn once it comes out of dormancy. There is a slight tinge of green developing.

I'm waiting for Ryobi to make a decent chain saw at a good price and then I'll join the 40v world. Chain saw, pruning saw, and weed whacker would be nice to have. I like my 18v impact gun.

I ordered this hot air rework tool a few minutes ago. Amazon prime was 120, this was 95 with free shipping for purchases over 99 bucks. Same company fullfilling. It pays to czech.

I wish Ryobi would make higher power tools that simply use two of their 18V batteries.

Sounds logical, no?

Can you show what a Union low voltage work would look?
Having been a Teamster’s and ALPA member years ago, I have no use or respect for unions.
From a union low voltage sub I worked with in the past. Not cheap.
Automotive tire Grille Wood Bicycle tire Automotive lighting
Rectangle Gas Electrical wiring Engineering Computer hardware

That does look nice.

It better. $1800 + a day for 2 men. (Or women).

Union, not my cuppa, or nonunion, that is what it is supposed to look like. Only way to really tell what goes where.

Skipped the range for Easter. Grandson is coming over for his first Easter egg hunt. He was supposed to get together with his cousins, but the one who folks were hosting is a little under the weather.

Went Friday to get the second booster. Went to a supermarket chain because they have Moderna. The previous jabs were all Pfizer. One daughter's doctor said to do something else so that's what we went with. Getting it was easy ... just a lot of waiting for no reason. There were a pharmacist and assistance with no other customers waiting. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes before getting the jab. Felt fine right afterwards then had a weird sensation that lasted 10 minutes. Since then nothing, no ill effects.

Roofers have us on the schedule for Tuesday. Wait and see since rain is in the forecast Tuesday and Thursday.

Happy Easter.

One of their mitre saws takes two batteries.

On larger tools it would work but they would have to monitor both batteries. Two batteries on a small tool would be cumbersome.

Nice. I'd like to see it a few years later when changes get made in a hurry.

I have a control panel at work, big ~8' x 12' three door enclosure. The builder stuffed the wire duct to 101%, then we needed to add a few more wires to fix deficiencies. Another year or so and it will be someone else's problem.

I've seen too many machines with too much wire and no space left in the panel.

Had I known ahead of time that I would be relocating the modem/router to the top of the kitchen cabinets, I would have looked for a lower profile one. That said, it looks a lot more obvious in this picture than in person. Obviously you’re not normally walking through there looking up towards the ceiling.

I might be able to make a wooden shelf that would allow me to lay it on its side and still be open for ventilation. Not on my priority list at the moment though.

View from up above. I put the connections plate as close to the cabinet as I could get it so everything would be low enough to not see (except for that tall modem end🧐).

I was going to wire an outlet up top too, but the extension cord isn’t bugging me enough to seriously consider that at the moment. It hides nicely behind the refrigerator. If I do the outlet later, there’s an outlet 16 inches to the right of my connections plate and approximately 4 feet down that I could tie into fairly easily.

Just for fun, I put the modem on its side……

A simple slightly elevated and ventilated platform wouldn’t be that hard to make! 😃

Nice cable running. Wish we had the kind of environment where we could have done something like that. Ours always looked so Mickey Mouse in comparison.

What’s the rectangular gizmo next to the cable connection plate on the wall?
More channels began working before the tech arrived but not all. Boxes reset for what thats worth and the tech didn't know why or how widespread the kaphuffle is. Whatever eh?

Finn wanted some air so raked the leaves out of the peeontheknees in a brisk 35˚ breeze and froze her petunias off. Got that out of her system.

Wings got shellacked 6/1 again and ya couldn't tell some were playing for their jobs.

Easter Sunday and the chief engineer, production coordinator, and myself are emailing each other about a people / machine problem. At least I have something interesting to look at tomorrow.
Ah, I thought it might be some sort of bridge or repeater. Thanks.
