WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Glad to hear y'all's areas are staying hydrated, although I thinks Wook's area needs it more than Brian's.

Four and a half hours of fixing mistakes and entering data.

Somehow a Brazillian Copy of an Italian ni, . . . nin, . . . , .355 may, or may not have followed me home for a buck twenty.
I'll deny every word of it.
I was going to say "Pics, or it didn't happen" when I realised it "didn't" happen....
<snip!>

I thought the truckbed liner was genius. I love the finish at the range.
My son-in-law has a nice pick-up that someone sprayed with bed liner from new. Very little rust for its age, and he really doesn't care if one of my grandkids throws a ball or a frisbee at it. :)
G'night Az.
I don't want anyone to worry or anything, but...

This would be my mid-week shooting day if time allowed. Today, there IS time, but I'm going to ride my bike instead since the weather is perfect.

If I don't come back, remember me kindly - it has been a while since the two-wheeled donkey was last exercised.

Not to worry, there’s a wall where the plaque will be hung. ;)
Oh, thank heavens.

As may be surmised, I survived. No huge distance, but it proved my lungs and knees are still capable (both were in doubt as I left).

I may add that the bike-path manners of other bike riders, MAMILs (Middle-Aged Men In Lycra), left a great deal to be desired. Harrumpff!

Thanks a lot Sails. Can't get the MAMIL vision out of my head. Some things can't be unseen or imaged.
Hey - if I had to suffer through the reality, you can live with the vision... :devilish:

Guess I should update my avatar to one of my biking pictures with full lycra.
Please don't.... :D

Has anyone posted an unobtanium gun to bait the scammers in the trading post?
I was going to, but I couldn't find one....

Rain has been on a bender for two days now, getting swampy outside, pegged at 50*.
Raining nicely here today - a good gentle steady soaking rain that won't just run off the surface. We've needed one for a while. :)
Mrs Sails is off at a native plant sale with D1, leaving me and the dog to relax for a change. I'm sure there should be shenanigans, but I'm too lazy today....

72 points to an inch.

Sent from my 9029Z using Tapatalk
Why can't people just talk English these days?.....

Even metrical would be better - it's like using MilRads instead of MOA. MOA have a basis in ease - at 25 yards, 1 MOA is 0.25", near enough. It just makes sense...

Actually precipitation is officially reported in hundreds of an inch (.00) so the "points" expressed in hundredths of an inch isn't too odd I guess.
Sounds more logical then 1/72" for sure. But still another "system" to remember when it comes up. "350 points" vs "3-and-a-half inches"....
Thar she blows! Wind has picked up to 60 mph gusts from the SE. Would hate to be out on Lake Michigan or Huron with it coming up so fast with little warning. Within fifteen minutes of hearing the warning come up at the feed mill it started.

h added to Pulaski to look at a Dodge Raider with son shortly. He grew up riding in my old boxy Mitsubishi Montero’s I should have never parted with the first. I kept the bouncy seats from my last but bet this one will be equipped.
My first was a 90’ MY two door with factory front and rear lockers and unstoppable. Low lock got you to 25mph at redline. View attachment 303685
I was just made aware of a Briazilian Ford that I wish they would import. Has all the "things" and a lovely boxy disposition. :)

Just got a photo ticket for doing 24 in a 20.
That's not right....

Although I was once stopped for doing 32 in a 25 - on a pedal-bike. I think he was more worried about me passing cars on the right while they were grid-locked than anything else, though. :)

Luck to you and especially your 96 yr old mom.
Thanks, Tricks!

All went well, and she is hearing much better now.

Her filters are apparently getting worse, however, as when the doc (a nice cheerful soul) left the room briefly, she didn't even wait for the door to shut before she said (loudly), "I can't decide is he's gay or not!".

We had a conversation..... :D

Ugh!! I know I'm retired'n'all, but would people PLEASE let folks know when they can't show up for appointments? We were supposed to have a surveyor come today to do a boundary survey and topo forthe place - I emailed them this morning to check, and they "got Covid a couple of weeks ago and it's knocked their schedule off", so they've put us down for the 23rd.

I made a polite request to let us know if that changes. Hopefully the message gets through.

In other news, it's windy, as Rhody has already noted. Our upturned recycling bin (emptied this morning and left upside-down at the kerb by the "guys") marched across the road like a demented Dalek to try to invade our neighbour's lawn. Luckily I nipped that in the bud and it's sitting outside in its corral brooding....

My good for the day, saved a coot down by the river...
A birdie coot, mudhen if you prefer.

He/she was tangled up with fishing line, hooked though the tongue. (Catch THAT visual)
Anyway I removed the hook and the tangled line, put it in the water and away it went.

Maybe whoever is in charge in the karma dept. will take it kindly...

Range trip this morning - it IS Sunday, after all... Lots of folks for a Sunday, but not too many and well-behaved.

Took the 25ACP Sterling and the Walther PPK/S 22LR. Not expecting accuracy from either, which was lucky. :)

The high-falootin' Hornady rounds with the Extreme Personal Defense bullets were just pain horrible - failures to eject, one misfire (until the second hit), keyholing, etc. Blech!

The off-shelf ball ammo from PPU was gong straighter, no keyholes, more snap (no FTEs etc.) and was, if I remember, about half the price of the Hornady pre-pandemic. Luckily, I have more of that in stock.

The Walther did what the Walther does - i.e. was the perfect plinking machine. No great accuracy, but fun to shoot.

On the way out.... I noticed something weird in the sales cases. A Stevens No.35 Target, single-shot 22. It was crying out to be taken home and cared for, and I hate to leave something like that in a case full of Evil Black Pistols. It will be coming home next week, and meanwhile is tucked up safely away from EBP's eyes. :)
