WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Fixin’ to head out to get this cataract in the right eye taken care of. Hopefully I will be able to see better in a few days.

I went with the wife for her consultation with her eye Dr about getting her cataracts fixed. She asked the surgeon about the multi focal lens. Well that’s a non starter. The extra cost to do both eyes was about $5200. Being 70 years old and having worn glasses most of her life anyway that hardly seemed worth the cost.

Everyone have a great day.
I took my mom in about twenty years ago to have both cataracts done, same day. She didn't go with any extra lenses and at 92 has very little vision issues. Probably went ten years after before needing any corrective lenses other than reading.

Pup sorting yesterday as there are twins and triplets to confuse and boy are they busy little critters. Trying to get the remaining three gathered for the clients to make their pick took a bit with these three gals. Only one is unspoken for out of the litter.

Good morning RFC people, getting ready to go at the range, windy morning but who cares, being there is priceless ! Hope everybody have a nice day !
Hay, WELCOME to the watering hole, Hardhammer.(y)

Already got to 41F, no rain expected, only clouds.
Yawwning and scratching...

Ordered a new lens for the latest camera.
Wide-angle, my 10-20mm does not fit this camera, ordered a 24-85mm from Nikon.
Unexpected but no biggie...
This is a full-frame camera, I should be set. I've got other full-frame lenses that run between 105mm to 600mm.

Breakfast first then a run down to the river to see what we can see :)

Have a great day, y'all

Still getting used to this. Not trying to quote anyone. Question? Where is Sophia? Is she on a honeymoon? Did she get a timeout? What did I miss?

The Smigma 10-20 is good on full frame from 16-20mm or in menu just choose DX when it’s installed. With the crop factor set at 1.6x the 10-20 works down to around 13mm. Still a great lens but I use my Tamron SP 17mm f3.5 manual lens more on full frame if I want wide.

All my other are full-frame Sigma lenses :)

A must have old lens for your D810 is the old Nikkor Af-D 24-120mm. The newspaper guys called it the street sweeper for good reason. A massive hunk of glass and aluminum that pretty much is my go to walking lens. Tough to get it back after my son borrows it for his D700.
Finally getting the Chevy pickup Takata airbags replaced this morning. We've been getting recall notices for over a year but much of that time the truck was unusable because of no battery or a smashed windshield. With those replaced in the last few months and no doctor trips scheduled for anybody today I got an appoint at the Chevy dealer here in Cullman to get it done. I don't know how long it will take. Got a good lounge area to wait in anyway.

Drove mother for her final eye exam post cataract surgery yesterday and the doctor said that everything looked fine. Got her some new glasses ordered, should be in by this coming Tuesday. She had the cataracts starting and needing newer glasses even when Pop died ten years ago but we never could convince her to go. It took nearly going blind to drive her into allowing it finally, and she still fizzled even though Belinda helped arrange financial assistance through the hospital benevolent fund. Stubborn stubborn and more stubborn. I shouldn't say much about that, I am too to a certain level. 🙃

No luck on RAM wheels upgrade and told to call Chrysler HQ with a vin #. What??
Did you know.... I sat in Lee Iacocca's office chair one Sat in the 80s when my bud replaced some office air filters when he was foreman of the biggest air filter business in the Deetroit area. I guess it rubbed off as I've owned 2 of their muscle cars and 3 Rams Gerald. :)
Sheesh~ definition: What potty mouths say when the real word's not allowed, TD.

The "pick" went well. Everything that needed to go on the roof got there without incident! 👍

Good luck with the eyeball fix NNT!

Thems some mighty cute pups ya got there LON!!!😊

Day 2 of the roof being replaced. They had to replace a lot of plywood so it's going to cost more. Yesterday was the big banging day. Today should be a little less noise. They left something on the roof yesterday that rolled around last night thanks to all the wind.

I'm blessed to have hearing loss when the pups whine in the middle of the night wanting food or to go out. Guess I have first and second shift while the wife has third. So far so good with escaping the whelping box for late night wandering. A handful from here on out.

Just replace it. They are not expensive. Probably should replace all of them. My wireless smokes are $90 and I get them at cost cause I'm in the industry. I replace all mine about 5 years ago and had to pay a guy $200 to program them into my Napco Intrusion panel. If I'm paying him $200 to program 1, he might as well program all 4.

Where is pans? Anyone spoken w/him lately? I need to give him a shout and see how he is rolling. Just added that to my list. Coffee is ready. Think I'll get a cup. Y'all have a great day!

Good idear. Haven't seen Atonic since the Big Flip either.

Been wonder about pans as well.

And Atonic.

Lots of inner Wolfs running around the yard now... 3 at once even. Methinks Wolf has lots of personalities. Even saw one @ approx 200yds scamper across the road on the way to the carwash a minute ago.
You figured it out Al, MPD.
