WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

The range was above water. Barely.

When I tell y'all my range is located in a swamp, I do mean literally.
Honey Island Swamp
Water Plant Fluvial landforms of streams Tree Natural landscape

By this evening the water will be over that bridge, and the range will be shut down again.

I broke better than half of the clays I shot at. Very happy with the Browning 16ga. Spreader Choke tube on the Cutts compensator seems to be the right pattern, at least for now.

We're still looking to do more shotgunning, someplace with more organized sporty clays.

The 9mm Kurtz is still not chambering properly in my Sig.
I'm going to try a different seat/crimp die and see if that solves the issue.

Shot a bunch of .45 acp.

Came home and napped.

Watching Godzilla movies. Monster Zero.

Was warmish in the house when I got up. It was even warmer after using three burners on the stove to rustle up some breakfast. Decided to plug in the a/c. I need to find the remote control but the front panel control and the android app is working fine. Turned off the furnace thermostat. I'm not coming home to a war between propane and electricity.

Speaking of propane, there is now a device attached to my tank and gage. I assume it is czeching my tank level and isn't a remote detonator. Oil & Energy Online :: Anova Unveils Universal Tank Monitor™

Went out for some groceries and suet for the birds. Almost bought a 50# bag of black oil but I reconsidered. I'm going to taper off on feeding the birds when I put my telescope out. I'm worried about bears.

I spent the afternoon wiring up guide scope, focuser, imaging camera, ect, ect, ect followed by a bunch of software updates on my laptop. Rain started so I closed up the garage and ran for the house.

I'm half watching the race on the right monitor, since it is recorded I can back things up if sumting happens.

I haven't face planted much on a bicycle. I did go down hard once while learning clipless pedals. Swing the heels out!

My hands are giving me problems. Leg cramps happen from time to time. Taking Lasix and potasium, sometimes they get out of whack.

Dang, so much to comment on and I have no time!!!

That should werk fine, Rhody. Don't see a problem at all with yer leaving a weekly marker; I always like the pause for the cause and your fine way to make the coming week relevant
Thanks Wook! I'll try to come up with something every week!
Rhody did you know? Wings long time zamboni driver got fired for peeing in the ice drain when one of his crew snitched him out. Now he's suing because of his prostate problem. :p Ya can't make this stuff up. Red Wings zamboni driver fired after being caught urinating in a drain - Sports Illustrated

Yes will it hold to record albums??
All part of aging Rhody but might also check your elders and see what aches etc they’re having now so you can plan ahead when it comes to your turn.

On the way home from today’s well attended PRS event. Greats squad mates and began and finished my day/time at the firing line with a target impact. Couple of squad mates rifles fell apart. The one who lives an hour and a half away was able to put the offending parts back in place and finished the event. Unfortunately for the other fella who drove eight hours to this event had no such luck and called it quits into his second stage. He did console himself with saving about eighty dollars in unfired ammo and was a good sport about it spending the rest of the day with us as squad mom. Ever so changing wind and environmental conditions were the luck of the draw whenever it was your turn at bat. Nonetheless I’m very happy with both my gear and how well I shot today. I shoot in the Open Division so next thing for me to practice is scrunching up into a little ball while shooting from a low to the ground barricade. Next few PRS events are scheduled over at the coast ie cooler weather but those are a three hour drive for me. Might travel or might just wait until the weather cools back down here when there’s another PRS event “here”. In the mean time there’s lots of USPSA events (one gun and multi gun) here a mere ten minutes from home. Layed off the MM Peanuts prior to the event so was able to travel over hill and dell a little more spryly. We all share in event duties so earned my brownie points by running the clock ie RO first thing in the morning. I enjoy doing this plus I can contribute by reaffirming the start and ending commands to those who aren’t familiar with them. Scarfing down my after event meal in the gas station quicky mart parking lot next to I5 Freeway and now time to make like a road warrior and head for home. 😀

I hope it helps.
Leg cramps are fun too. Probably the most pain my wife has consistently seen me in is leg or hand cramps. I didn't laugh off my 1 kidney stone either though.
I've had broken arms, legs,,ribs, fingers, toes and nose. Multiple knee operations. NOTHING compared to the pain of a kidney stone. Got it zapped with ultrasound. Now I severely limit my salt intake.

I’ll second that, well kind of since nothing comes close to the pain of tearing off a bicep at the shoulder. Did that in the belly of a ship and had to climb four decks of ladders to get out. With tool bag of course as it was at shifts end. There were foul words involved.

Just four episodes of clogged up with stones. First case was after four days of heavy drinking, passing stones in s porta potty in sub zero weather. Couldn’t figure out the clacking noise then the pain struck. Did make it out of there before passing out.
Last showed too large to pass so visited a urologist surgeon. All he had to do is show me the tools and go into vivid detail of the procedure for removal. FloMax was the alternative. You could pass a bus with that drugo_O

Good ride today. Windy, muddy some ice patches and water crossings but hit 75°. I took my time while son took one of the brutal single track loops. Lake still frozen with s large Pike coming to eyeball me on the shoreline. Crystal clear water in this lake as it was the city water supply for many years.

I was going to say that we need an "after" shot to go with the before pic you posted earlier.

Crazy, but I have had four kidney stones. One got blasted, one was surgically removed, and I passed two. The first two caused me no pain, and the only reason that I knew I had them was because they showed up on an ultrasound. I consider myself lucky because as a FF. rescue tech for several decades I was called to more than a few alarms that involved patients with kidney stones and they were in excruciating pain.

Ditto.
Dunno where my brain went. Need to make a correction about shooting in the state skeet shoot this year. We hosted it last year. It will be in Houston this year and I'll not be shooting in it. I will shoot in the Pan American here. There were only 47 entries in the Metropolitan, quite the low from an attendance perspective. I probably should have shot it, just because, in the one sense and glad that I didn't from the sense of getting my arms more or less back around the yard yesterday.

Your yard looks good, dlong! (y) Sorry the grass doesn't last. Here, a lot of folks sew winter rye to keep their lawns green year-round, but that means having it mowed or mowing it too as it grows like crazy during the cold months.

My eyes were so crossed & irritated from being pollenated yesterday that they were making tears most of the day. Got to the club around 11. Had a shooting bud come out to meet me and we got in some boxes at all the green course stations. Green ten was a real bear with two traps 20 yds. behind the station throwing screaming high elevation targets from a fully elevated tower platform in following winds. Quite the zoomers requiring very quick leads of a Suburban minus its front bumper. Lots of fun, those. Green mean thirteen was conquered! Not like I thot, but with a mounted gun, altered hold point and looking directly in front of the nearer trap and totally locking in on that one target to the exclusion of all else
and only after watching it break, allowing myself to see the second target. I had simply not been going about it correctly, prior. And the solution once seen, was simple and easily repeatable. Eyes were tearing the whole time. Returned to the clubhouse for a late lunch around 3. Got out of there around 4 and back to the house in time for a nap. Watched the last 20 laps of the Cup race at Talladega.
Keselowski is having a rough go ofvit this season, so far. Needs to reel it in a tad and stay focused on making the podium &/or winning at the end. Today could have been a healing one for him but that last penalty cost him dearly, and he was the best and only chance Ford had in today's race. Oh well, I thot he had better judgement than to do stupid when he did. Tough lesson w/well known consequences. Do not speed in the pits! The Chevy's ran strong all day. I'd like to see Mopar get back in it. I'd like to see Daytona and Talladega's plate restrictions loosened from the present cookie-cutter 190 mph cruising speeds. I'd like to see affordable real gasoline. There's a lot of things that I'd like to see. I was glad to see a reasonable turnout of fans.

There were fewer entrants in the 28ga event at the Metroplitan because some of the entrants could not source any 28 ga ammunition to shoot! I'd like to see that change as well, but we ain't got there, yet. The club's present ammo is limited to sale for the members & their guests. Supplies are skinny and prices are significantly higher... for near everything. Spending a hunnert happens all too quickly, in the moment.

Everything here is greening nicely and spring colours are abundant. If I can but stay focused on that or the target just thrown, I'll be fine and get thru the pollen season. Regarding much of the other stuff I can see the reason, but I can't do squat about it. Colour me pragmatic.

Glad ya got to the swamp today, Don! And that the spreader met the day's demands well enough. Hope you can get the opportunity to shoot those 16's more and that you get the pew-pew bullet issues fully sorted. I've every intention of sorting a fav. load for some 7.65 pistols shortly, wind or no wind. Do have a nearby indoor facility that I need to look into possibly utilizing, but only if they let me keep my brass. I didn't get on the b/o list w/Starline for their .32 acp brass last time, missed it when they had it by being wishy-washy and now it's on b/o once more. Have come to accept that a certain percentage is simply unrecoverable, even at the club where I'm shooting out of a window, from inside! Only someone who reloads those little devils is capable of having any
empathy. They are big fun to shoot! 'Little bees', as it is said the Yugoslavian's called them. Fun is where ya make it! All the rest is an annoying distraction.

POW!

Take that(!), ya target.

Addendum: it's raining now. We need the moisture, anyway that we can get it.

Fertilize every month with Scotts W&F and water frequently too much while using a quality seed blend should have you looking at a a great green all summer D. Think Hydroponic Gardening. If it grows an inch a day in the sun and cutting/bagging once a week isn't enough, its juust right IME. 🍸
