WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

… I found this gem that I hadn't seen in a while, thought I'd share it.

LOL! I showed this to the wife and she let out such a howl I was afraid the cat might leave home.
BW, sounds like you need some of those tight fitting cycling shorts. Less chance of getting caught on the saddle during dismount.

Sixty degrees upon wake-up to the start of this fine week. Enjoying my first cup of coffee with the little monsters sleeping. Will get them up and outside when I pour the second cup into a thermos cup.

Must make a note to self to find my post hole diggers at the farm to install cyclone fencing in the yard for a dog pen this spring. Should be easy digging here with sandy soil and fill from the mining project a hundred years ago.
Ok groanards, I need some advice on what might be arthritis in my hands. Working with steel all day every day, has my hands in constant pain. Mostly it the knuckles in my fingers. Also, experiencing trigger finger on my right hand. It's painful, and one of my fingers is usually stuck in a flexed position when I wake up. I really don't want to take any medication, because I don't like taking pills. Maybe some sort of OTC joint inflammation supplement or cream? I ordered something like relief factor that should be here soon. Hoping that will afford some relief.

The side effects that go along with most arthritis meds are terrible! 😬

I had a good friend who used to dip his fingers in pure WD40 every morning when it was bad. He claimed it helped....

(No guarantees implied or given - side effects may occur that I know nothing about.)

Well, that's interesting! Would probably be more effective if injected straight into the joints though! ;)

Had a badly crippled with arthritis neighbor that also swore by WD40. Neighbor kids and would go visit him early morning after chores. He bought the WD40 by the gallon and would ask us for the squirt bottle to spray on his knees so he could get out of bed. Swore by it amongst other things.
He had a knack for swearing like no other and we learned much from him. His daily trip to McDonalds to order a hotdog through the drive through was always exciting with a flurry of expletives thrown in with the order.

Hydration - so important in so many ways
Minerals - Some will say potassium, I'll say try it and magnesium

Exercise: Try a rubber band around your 5 fingers, extend you fingers and hold, repeat. You need to exercise the opposite of gripping.

Finding the right strength and size rubber band is a challenge. You can put knots in the middle of a rubber to shorten it and use on only 2 fingers or finger/thumb. Believe it or not the ones that come on broccoli and other vegetables are in the right range. Plus you and BW can probably meet some women asking them for theirs. Awaiting newchickfrometheproduceaisle story or two!

Watered the new seed. Still no sprouts after a week. Maybe a little too cold at night and not warm enough during the day. By next week I should see sprouts. Already did my second cut yesterday.
WD40 is mainly mineral spirits. I wouldn't put it on my skin daily. Applying heat would probably do the same thing.
I'd do some research and find a safer alternative.

After motorcycle, bicycle. steering wheel gripping and work my hand now give me trouble at times. Heat so far seems to be the best for immediate relief when an episode hits me. I say episode because the pain is real and my hands contort like some special effect BS. Sometimes it is one or the other. When they both hit at once the real fun begins.

WD 40 is a Water Displacement formula after 40 variants. It’s not really a lubricant. Just like the cleaner Formula 409. It’s the 409th try before they got it right.
I sprayed the whole inside and blades on the snowblower with WD40 before putting away for the summer. Moisture barrier for rust I guess.
In...

Early start (for us) and we're czeching out the nests at the heron hatchery.
There have been babies sighted in other nearby towns.

It gets us outa the house and gives us something constructive to do,
I'm rather thankful for that...

42 degrees here, sunny day :)

Life is good!

I think of WD40 mainly as a solvent. ATF is probably a better rust preventive. Probably not the best for arthritis either.

Yeah, it's really gotten bad in the past month or so.

They say that hard work never killed anyone.....

I don’t have any remedies but there’s nothing wrong with going to the Dr. Good luck with it whatever you do & hope you get relief.
My dad claims that the WD-40 works on his aches & pains as well...he also used to use kerosene to put a shine on his vehicles?

Thanks for the link and video Mike, my hand cramp a lot at night especially after working with them including shooting, the cramps can pull them into some pretty grotesque shapes at times and are VERY painful.

Nothing to add but cracking my knuckles relieves pain for a second.
