WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

My favorite stop on the way to bridge is Gustafson’s smoke house and party store. The smokers are always going and lots of native Great Lakes fish on display. They also have native Yooper Cheese to choose from. Haven’t found Menominee there in a few years but always have largish Whitefish in stock.

Hey, I've been there. It's just down the road from Epoufette!
Set 'er up again and lemme have a double this time, barkeep.
I'll have whatever he's drinkin, and just leave the bottle. (y)

I’ll be stopping in May with a load of pups headed to southern MI. When I was working in Manitowoc calling Belding home I stopped weekly for a couple of Menominee. Never found a better commercial smoker around the Lakes.
Overslept.... YAWWN...

46F out there already, no rain.

FedEx has a delivery to be delivered today, have to sign for it :)
Of course that means no goin' down to the park till delivery is made. Oh, well...

Maybe I'll leave Mrs. Cow here to sign for things and go shopping. The Mexican market has some deals on
produce and meat. Might be worth a look..
It's all good.

Life in the great PNW .. (y)

Waiting on them here as well, but no guarantee they're actually coming today. Tracking says delivery today, but location update still in the next state over....

Of course, I signed up for "tracking updates" which means nothing. <sigh>
Almost forgot that my son brought us home some smoked salmon from the store the other day. Little stronger than I like as it was likely a spent fish milked of its eggs and sold to the smoker in Green Bay. I only like fresh silver Coho in the 5-7 pound range for smoking myself, firmer meat and less toxins. This did eat well though. Breakfast!

Wife says I've got chauffeuring duties to catch up on which means waiting on the slowest woman in the world to get ready she started an hour and half ago and I'm still waiting. Guess a trip on my own out to the range is not going to work out, wanting to try out the Kidd triggers I installed and finally shot the Ruger/Kidd hybrid that got CPC'd. Oh well.
The price I pay for going hunting Wed/Thur.
Good luck with your deliveries today.
I sent a postal money order out nearly a month ago within the state and still has not been delivered. Stopped at local PO last week to see if the could run a trace on who ripped the envelope open at a sorting center and cashed the check. Sorry you have to wait thirty days and that requires a minimum fee of $6.95!
I may have went a little postal when the old bay snipped that at me as she turned and stepped back from the glass wall. A week from paying the fee and still no delivery. So much for a timely delivery and guarantee of good money sent.

They at one time were trusted with the Hope Diamond. Still remember leaving s little slobber on the glass at the Smithsonian at age twelve.

Good luck with your deliveries today.

I may be misunderstanding your post and I’m sure you already know this but if you want to see if a postal mo has been cashed you can do that on line…

Did I miss the donuts?
Nuther dreary day with lots of rain last night. Flashes of light and roar of thunder accompanied the rain. Slept through it on the good ear. New ear drop prescription started yesterday afternoon. Difficult to watch through corner of eye to see the five drops drip in. Think my ear had smoke rolling out of it and smelt terrible.
Speaking of Smelt, sure could go for a bucket of Lake Superior Smelt. Foot long Smelt are caught regularly in Keweenaw Bay, L’Anse. Those would be great smoked as are Menominee. Whitefish smoked are just okay but the smaller Menominee and a sleeve of Ritz crackers and sharp cheddar are great traveling food.
Two days of warm enough weather to get the pups out to play. Breda sure is a great helper with the pups and loves her little brothers and sisters.
Donuts were yesterday.
If you missed them, you will have make up donuts to consume.

Smelt are disgusting.

I can't join y'all.

I'm out in the ballistic lab with my lil Sig torn apart to plunk test boolits.

I'm getting brave. Figured out ezactly how short they have to be in order to chamber.

.945
Data calls for .975

Combined with being a tenth over max on the powder, I expect some energetic projectiles.

Loaded a couple hundred .45acp, and primed another couple hundred.

Ebay shipping notices are flooding my inbox.

Time to put a pistol back together.
Loaded ten rounds for tomorrow's test.

Thank you! They could have mentioned that at the post office or the postal manager at the regional center nearby when I called.
Just lost with no way of tracking a first class letter. Likely have a thirty year wait time before refunding money sent though.
Last night was a cooked just right all dark meat chicken Bento Box shared with wifey. Afterwards we met with some friends at the local coffee shop and stayed long enough to almost closing time. This weekend am fortunate to have four different local shooting events to choose from, but event of choice will be tomorrow’s PRS. Got my will be carried backpack-shooting bag all ready to go along with selected accessories and eighty rounds for the eight stage course of fire that will travel to that range in the rifle case thingie pouches. Spring time weather ie windy so will bring just the 6.5CM which tends to do better in the wind once out and beyond 600 yards than does the .223 Wylde even with the heavier bullets.

With a really nice selection of various shapes/type of bullets especially pistol bullets, OAL is best determined as what will feed and function in yer handgun of choice at that moment. 🤔 Sometimes what will fit in the clipazine limits the OAL, and sometimes the angle of the feed ramp etc.

Interesting article on gypsy moth outbreaks. Now they are called spongy moths. My brother had them really bad last year. I think Wes may have had them bad in his area as well.

Spongy moth in Michigan: What to expect this year
Hey AZ, Phoenix is almost in the top 25%, but personally I think the methodology and metrics used are flawed.

Don did the mag holder work?
Yes, for a double stack S&W 9mm

In this case, the published COAL works great in three handguns, but notattol in the one I'm loading all of these pews to practice with. It's the shape of the chamber.
Loading them shorter is certain to increase pressure.

I did find more data for this bullet which suggests I'm not over max load, and it lists a shorter COAL than the other book, but still not this short.

I may be fine. It might beat my gun to death. I'll find out tomorrow.

I may bring a shotgun with me tomorrow in case the mosquitoes are thick again.

Up and moving, albeit rather slowly. Upper body is pretty much recovered from the outdoors work, legs still very sore. Did some house cleaning and laundry ketchup, was about to run out of clean pants.

Still waiting on the IVIG resumption. Had the nerve conduction tests done last week so that data is in the system now. Between the neurologists office and Cigna Healthsprings they don't get on any hurry.

Going to pick up Belinda at dialysis around 3:20. Glad that I don't have to do anything major today.

If the wife's GF is 1/2hr late she is early by her clock.
Smelt are disgusting.
And the eggs really small and sticky when you bite the head off the first one carelessly under the influence.

50º so had at the cob job closed cell foam gasket sealer on a roll. Probably not perfect but will keep the box contents a bit more dry.

Wings are on a roll too but alas its by gravity losing 2/5 @ the end of 2 in my absence. Home game so hangovers will prevail.
Well I did get out to the club only to remember I'd removed my range box from the back of the truck, so had to try and make do with some of the worst slick covered sand bags and not enough of them so about all I learned was the trigger jobs are good. Oh well... Al sounds like your wife's friend is a lot like my wife.

First female pup picked by a towny here. Another driving down from the far north tomorrow. Hoping to get things narrowed down on the pick so i'm not hauling pups downstate then returning to the other latter picked girls. With one girl yet unspoken for its not fair to the local purchasers to have to wait for the return. Is what it is but had no problem picking my new male pup as Breda's future mate from pictures and video alone. Past litters it worked out with locals staking there claim early. What pups were delivered were what was left and what considered an an ideal pup was often based on color rather than character when the choice was made. A pup should find there perfect owner not the other way around as we strive to build character. Everyone has always been tickled with what remained as choices.

Today's first pick girl come right too them and tugged on the pantlegs when they were looking at other pups to make the choice. Gotta love it!
Not the most colorful of pups but she picked them.
