I know a guy that does vehicle cockpit leatherwork Flys if you're interested. 😋

Got the parts to put on the VN vet plate on the nose end of the new *bucket of bolts. Ram had 4 holes in the bumper and thats it. Its a bit of a finagle to reach on the backside of the bumper with 2 air dams in the way. NAPA gave me a hand and we ended up with rubber grommets with brass threaded inserts whereas the rubber expands as the bolt is screwed tight most similar to some wall anchors.

In other news hockey great named Guy LaFleur aka The Flower died today at the age of 70.

*bucket of bolts: what my dad's dingleberry GF called one of his new trucks.
Bet your hoping is wont snow anymore with the new ride. Hows that funky little wheel working out for ya for the shifting? They should have put in on the center console. I like driving with my arm on the console holding on to the shift knob, even if is just an electrical switch.

Don't look at the DOW Dlong.
I won't even look at my brokerage accounts. I keep telling my son buy, buy. But remember, you don't lose unless you sell. Right? Been down this road before, only I was a younger man.

Range Report

The Mosquitoes won. No contest. At times the clouds of skeeters were so thick they obscured my front sight.

Big too. I saw one catch a clay mid air on the shotgun line and fly away with it.

Well, . . .

They won.

45acp loads shoot great out of all three pistols. I had about fifteen that were loaded too long, by a couple of thou. They wouldn't chamber in either the Kimber, or the Iver Johnson, but the RIA ate them up.

Years ago I installed a Wilson Combat adjustable trigger in the RIA. So today I decided to show it some love. Ordered some goodies. Starting with a new recoil spring. 20#'s. Some oversized controls, a new hammer, . . .

The RIA is the one with the Bomar Sight Rib on top, adding significant weight to the slide.

Looked at thumb rests. Two different styles I can see. One requires drilling into the frame, which I'm kinda liking the idea of. The other replaces the slide stop pin. I wonder about function issues with this one.

Leaning towards drilling holes in the frame.

I'm going to change the grips to some G-10's, and skateboard tape the foregrip area.

It aught to be interesting, and amusing.

If I could take pictures like that one of the goose I might have got a picture of a couple of Bluejays fighting In my front yard. Well above it that is. They first flew into a White Oak tree and took a couple of swipes at each other. Then they took to wing for an aerial fight. Lots of breast feathers flew. One finally departed the scene and then a different male flew in to take on the victor. Quite a show.

I didn’t even know there was a Bluejay roadhouse around here. In my experience that’s the kind of establishment fights over females usually occur in.

Nice break in the weather with the sun coming out and the hummingbird having some breakfast from the feeder. Screening hedge outside of the kitchen windows needed some trimming so out came the ladder and battery powered hedge trimmer and did so. 😀

Its stashed in the garage to avoid pothole patching tar until it gets ceramic'd next Tues-Wed.
Had the dial shift on the last 2 rides. However it does have semi-manual shift buttons on the steering wheel that are a bit slow compared to my stick shift days but serve the purpose of intent one might suppose.

Good skeeter and range report, Don. If you can reload with bullets with the same ogive as the original 45acp that JMB designed the gun around, then they should chamber/load in all of your 45’s sans having to be selective of OAL versus specific gun. Another important 45acp tidbit is the magazine lips and the angle of the bullet coming out of the magazine.

Should have minimal issues with having the thumb rest will be affixed to the frame as it is a metal frame. Drilling the frame will have less potential problems than using the existing pins. Challenge is tolerance stocking with a pre drilled attachment versus the geometry of the existing drilled holes in the frame. Polymer frames and their flexing provide more challenges that will drive one bonkers.

I really like the various G10 grips I’ve accumulated.

Their nest was tucked away well enough that a picture with everyone home and feeding would not have worked too well.

Since there are no holes in the frame, the holes will be located somewhere in the vicinity I intend them to be, hopefully at an acceptable angle.

6'H cedar privacy fence posts are only 2'D and the NE corner of the yard useta be swamp hence now a $$ leaning 8-9yr old fence towards the neighbor's garden. One could see the lean looking at the fence flat on 33yds away from the window. 5yrs ago? we dug out one side of the offending posts, pulled it straight and pounded metal fence posts down, screwed em to a couple of the cedar posts posts and filled in the gaps on the other sides of the posts with sand and pounded it in. As the water table is only 3'D in the spring on that corner of the 33ydx33yd yard the effort alas proved in vain.
Yep, syphon beats spittin deasel. Pump can also be used for oil in motors with no drain plug, but then it has to be cleaned.

If you ever replant them post go about 6"s deeper and fill with 6"s of crushed / tamped stone then put the post in. Leaves room for freezing / thawing to take place without effecting the post. Always worked on corner post and flagpoles.

I've spit gas a couple times, nasty asterisking stuff! 🤮

I absolutely wanted a 6'H fence and all they had was 8' posts. That corner of the BY isn't firm earth being swamp before the yard was put in and then this brick abode moved here to make room for the old hospital now defunct. That swampland's black soil is the reason the tree nearest the fence is the largest by far. Water table is 3'D by that part of the fence. We'll cut the strap off the tree before we head for the nursing home. 😎

Turkey hunting trip didn't result in slain birds although one Possum found out what a sleep aid a suppressed subsonic .22 lr is. Several Hen's supplied entertainment for me while waiting on their boyfriends, have a nice video of a Hen "dusting" herself, something I knew they did but had never witnessed. She hung around my decoys for a full hour before leaving, liked the idea of a live decoy but it didn't help. Nephew's farm is really nice property, 400 acres of mostly hardwoods and three small and one large pond, deer are abundant and here'd thinning will be taking place, including managed use of a depravation permit once crops are put in. Came home worn out and with several things needing to be done including taking a friends wife and their oldest son out to the range, fun afternoon but it hit 81º and I got hot and was ready to leave.

It's been another day of overly warm & windy conditions w/wind warnings from the weasels. Decided to let it be and not push it or going to the club today. Can't say that I've accomplished a lot but have made dents in some small things and loaded a few more boxes of 12ga 1oz target-loads in throw-away hulls. Wanting to take a sit and go on a 28ga loading binge w/once & done hulls for use on sporty clays small gauge activity. I have more of them on hand than I need. It borders on embarrassment. It's on the list of stuff to do. I'll get 'round tuit, eventually. First world problem for sure.

Glad to have the diversion, yano.

Lotsa weird stuff going on theses dayz... in the present haze. Mosquitoes have yet to invade here. Whot moisture we get goes right in and the lawn, plants & trees drink it right up. Unseasonal low humidity much of the time recently is also likely a factor. Heck, they could choke and drown on the amount of pollen we've had in the air. Could B some are too heavy to fly, like a plane in need of deicing. Regardless, they have yet to become a bother.

Bride is fixin' yard bird gizzards w/brown gravy and rice to serve it over. Yummy! Y'all up north will just have to take my werd for it, but gosh it eats gud.
