WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Thanks for the kind werds, Gents. My shooting acquaintance got a coupla years out of his heart transplant and a few trips to the sporty clays courses during that time. He held on... as best he was able.

Reading of passing out due to diabetic shock is nothing to play lightly. Comments noted. I know others who have been there. Nothing to fool around with.

Reading of what happened to your friend, GB, is simply heart-breaking. What a tragedy and horror. Perhaps down the road you can take his son to the range w/you and show him what his dad had in mind for the both of them. It is important that they hold the perp fully accountable for his heinous behavior and not the gun. Prayers for all affected and their eventual healing. That's just rotten and nothing in our criminal justice system will make up for their loss.

Was back out to the club late afternoon, last. 'twas still overly warm, very windy and overcast. Can't really do any serious practice in those conditions, buts it's still fun trying to hit crazy targets. Got a coupla boxes in w/more hits than misses and a fair amount of bull successfully shot w/some of the usual suspects before returning.

Bride fixed
linguini w/white [clam] sauce for dinner. We were in need of using some of the shallots on hand, before they got old & shriveled, like my hands. Seems like every time she fixes that dish, it is better than the last. She's had a handle on it for decades, knows it's one of my fav.'s and uses it as a successful way to unwind me. It's one of those dishes where one sets the stress aside and just enjoys a foodie's nirvana. It's that good! It's also good that she only fixes a small quantity, otherwise I'd blimp.

In other news; I've read of things you can't make up, stuff that I didn't wanna know, omissions,
commissions, horrors, fictions, addictions, nonsense.

Bought a plastic 'can' of Yuban™ coffee whilst picking up an Rx yesterday morning. Stuff used to be a
luxury at an earlier time. It was a bargain on a cost per oz basis yesterday, but I was really just wanting to mix it up a bit on the morning coffee's taste. I do that periodically, just because. There is no particular reason. It's the same w/pastries and white wines that I buy for the bride. Variety is good but like RF ammo, some lots or types are better than others. You can't buy target seeking shot shells. Heck, ya can't hardly buy shotshell components anymore, at all.

I received a generic email from Jake @ RMR bullets yesterday, Don, touting their newest development in 9mm PD hollow-point lighter pew-pew bullets. I'm thinking they may be the solution to your 9mm Kurtz project's stalemate. Give him a call, mention me and I bet that he will send you a small sample to try just for the asking. He has always been most accommodating to me. I've zero association w/them, aside from being a hunnert percent satisfied customer. Just saying.

Well, we don't see a pic like that very often! Otter than that, that hummingbird bird pic is outstanding. 👍

Sad story Greg. Sorry to hear it.

Another day of toil here. It's going to be in the upper 60s so will enjoy working outside!

Y'all have a great day!!!

I'm planning a journey to the range with a few 1911's in tow. Range opens at 1100hrs.

Newer mower with Honda engine manual says 86 octane or higher. No greater than 10% ethanol or 5% methanol. When the marinas are open, I'll get marine gas there. Only place in the greater area to get Rec 90 gas is a 30 mile round trip.

I do run Rec 90 in the German chainsaw, weed trimmer and leaf blower.

My fave station reams me a $1 more a gal for 91-proof corn free swill with no lesser proofs jet fuel available there.
Hope he gets the cure and goes to engineering school.

The writer, or the local PD commenting, need to have a better understanding of tools. They state it has a drill bit for a firing pin, when in fact it is a torx bit or an allen bit. Hard to tell. :D

Feeling much better today. That booster had the most effect of previous. Good thing maybe?
Son and I swapped out his ice tires on his towny bike and he scrubbed his chain of the winter salt gooey lube and reapplied the summer dry lube. We then walked a couple miles of wicked trail clearing brush left by winter storms. Never attempted riding the last one and doubt I have it in me to go up to the top for the downhill. Hardcore downhill is steep with quite a few jumps that would likely put me in the hospital. Fun if you make the jumps over boulders and mining sink holes but not so great if you don’t. I would have to walk the bike to top regardless as it’s a 500’ elevation rise in a 1/4mile winding up to the top. Oh well it’s cleared for those willing.
Had the pups out on a windy fifty degree day yesterday. They are quickly getting to the size where they can get around and explore more. One of the little females wandered under the deck where I can’t reach her so sent Jorgē the cat in after her to herd her back where she entered. Breda dug a little and helped her find her way out as well.
I’d just as soon be rid of the old ratty looking deck that was poorly built as it’s just an ice trap all winter long with the deck boards being placed in wrong direction. Eves drip with southern exposure and freeze instantly on the elevated deck. Either have a mound of ice or slide your way to the steps front or back every winter.

Can you not add a gutter above Lon?
Can you not add a gutter above Lon?
They freeze too but not really as a little jog was put in with a little shelter for the side doors opening. If finding a more suitable house for just the two of us and critters was an easy option it would be an easy decision to just leave it for the next victim. Inflated home prices and all its not that simple. The house is way too big once the kids are gone. 2 stories are great with families but once you get too old it’s a pain to reroof and reside the place or paint the celluboard siding. Roofing is a cut up mess with the additions that were added on to original. 1750 sq ft with three finished floors and not getting any younger.
Spent most of yesterday on the road. Several of us went to the "Spring Carlisle" show. That is acers of old & new parts & cars , None of us had a project in the works ,so it was just 4 old guys hobbling around. It started to rain on us about noon.We holed up in one of the vendor tents for awhile, then made the long walk back to the truck in the rain. Decided to head back home as there wasnt anything we saw that really needed to be taken home.

Traffic on I 81 north & south was bad, only one accident that we saw on the way home, but traffic was backed up for miles on the north bound side.
Today will bring more mowing....
Sorry to hear about your friend, that is horrible.
Thanks M92pv4u. Much appreciated.
Rain is leaving. Heading out to do some shopping and get a few things done.

Waiting for a shipment of boxes from Colorado - Fedex seems uncertain where they are or when they'll be delivered, but one of the 6 packages MAY be delivered today....

And Yes, 6 shipments, containing 21 boxes total to make something like this:

Property Bookcase Furniture Shelf Book

Emptied that end of the room yesterday - this whole wall is clear now....

Picture frame Wood Lighting Shelving Shelf

And Oh, Yes - I do subscribe to the saying that a clean desk is a sign of a sick mind... :D

It's 42 degrees out on this Donut Friday, not raining and that's a good thing...

We'll go to the river and see what we can see.

The newest camera is due tomorrow. It's somewhere between Colorado and Portland, fingers crossed for an early delivery :)
I've already got lenses and tripod mount and other stuff.
This will be a landscape rig, just for fun...

That's life in the great PNW

Very sorry to hear about your friend GB.

Sunny heading for 60*. First time for sun and temps above 50ish for a week now. Got skid steer running and moved closer to garage before weather went sour, but haven't gone no further .
Got an errand to run then I'll hit it with the grease gun, check fluids and tire pressures. Then the real PIA of putting fuel in.
