WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Does anyone here have experience with one of the car headlight polishing kits? How did it work out for you? Any recommendations for really great kits, or kits to avoid?
I used the 3M one on multiple vehicles. Walmart sells them.

The key is to apply a UV-resistant clear-coat when done, or they will yellow again - even faster because polishing removes what was left on there.

Warm and muggy at work. Tomorrow is going to be a joy. I turned off the ac this morning and forgot to turn it on until I was half way home. I'm not making that mistake tomorrow.

My co-op electric provider sent an email asking me to send their letter to my governing critters and the board that oversees power in Michigan. The carbon warriors are planning to shut down a few plants when it looks like renewables are not going to cover all needs. Michigan is one of the states that is expected to have power outages due to temperature and capacity issues. That is with very few electric cars, not sure how they expect to cover this when gas cars are replaced by battery cars. Solar doesn't work at night, wind is generally calmer at night. My thought is don't let them tear down a shut down plant until they got this new way working perfectly.

I think I'll have another tuna salad tonight, I'm all for eating light and cool.

Homedepot annoyed me tonight. Went to write a review on the battery, charger, and free tool, I hit a 500 word limit and had to edit it down. I guess they don't want much nuance.

I saw that one elsewhere and sent to our lotto pool message chain.

I hear toothpaste works. Try a spot with a clean rag and what ever fang cleaner you have on hand.

In my opinion, the fossil fuel opposers need a reality check. This country is a long, long way from being fully supported by renewable energy. I don't think some of those folks realize that the power to recharge batteries and run heat pumps in lieu of natural gas or propane has to come from somewhere. We are no where close to having the renewable energy resources and infrastructure to support the demand for electricity to run heat pumps and for all the cars and devices that would need charging. Wind mills and solar panels have environmental impacts as well, that are seldom discussed. And what about all the batteries and toxic components within?

Just got back from the Van Gogh immersion in Grand Rapids DeVos place. Very moving, interesting and inspiring. When queried on my way way out, I said ‘what no absinthe ‘.

66º in the house upon our return and after 2 hrs of freezing with summer wear on us I opened a couple windows to warm up the joint. It got quite brisk out here also during our absence. 75 with 75% humidity is quite tolerable dining on a takeout taco salad and Lindt white chocolate balls for dessert.

We’re having the same moogoogaipin people over here doing exactly the same. It’s unfortunate that one might observe their goal in life is just to boss everyone else, and yet accomplish nothing positive but rather destroying everything in their path, then blame other folks for the reduction in quality of life. There I’ve said what was on my mind after reading the OP’s comments. 🤔

Range day began with picking up my bougie breakfast and being spoiled rotten by my favorite barista. Plan was to help finish building our steel challenge stages for this Saturday’s event. We had a good size crew plus much had already been done yesterday. Squeezed-did in some RF SC practice, and much socializing and decision on choice of internal PCC components. Got home early and made lunch then into the man cave for some major maintenance on moi two 10/22’s, including cleaning, polishing, and trueing numerous contacting surfaces between the bolts and the receivers. Ammo of choice this time shall be GECO SemiAuto, just because. 😀

Sounds like a waste of perfectly good bourbon.
Good whiskey should always be drank neat, some like a little water or ice cubes, in wintertime a hot toddy (just hot water only – no sugar, no lemon) is nice BUT never with mixers.

If me da (gone and god bless him) thought I would add a mixer to good whiskey he would disown me.

Just my tuppence worth.

Gassed up and left a sticker. Guy ahead of me paid $8.49 for a pack of Marlboro Lights. Whoa!! o_O Wonder how much $$ I saved since I quit in 04, besides my health that is.

Thanks (y) I searched for it several times, getting goofier by the minute.
Sure has been rough with temps in the fifties and sixties for past few weeks. Low humidity and lows falling into the forties still most nights. A lot of work having to close windows at dusk do to the chill but we will survive it. Sisu and all that doncha know!
Still 90°A, feels like 96°at 9:30 p.m. this evening. Dew point 74° with humidity @58%.
Was 97°A earlier with a feels like index of 108.
May be slightly cooler Wednesday.
The company came this afternoon and finished putting in the wood burning stove we bought a year ago. The last 7’ section of pipe was installed 35’ off the ground in 30 mph winds and 97*. Better them then me.

Thinking about using the funds from the unexpected consulting gig to get a can for me 9mm’s. Ran into a sheriffs deputy at the mail center in town, told me the new e file system is turning tax stamps around in 16 days. Might have to test that.
