WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Hello from Monteagle, Tennessee! We’ve already been over to Sewanee University of the South and took a few photos. Starting to get a bit humid now. Sabrina wanted to check out a pottery store, then we’re headed to my niece’s place for Eli’s birthday celebration. It’s a beautiful day for it!

Cell pic of Sabrina outside the smokehouse restaurant where we ate. She didn’t eat near enough to fill that chair and I’m thankful for that. She’s just the right size as is!

My sister in law had a neck issue and the fixed it by going in from the front to the spine in the back. Amazing technology.
Is the dock fixed or does it have to come out in winter? I need to know for the book I’m writing.
That's SOP these days, my Fusion of C5/C6and C7 was done from the front. (y)
Charged the first battery, went out and got the second one to charge and now my dual chemistry charger is toast. Now using the charger that came with the two batteries I bought today. I still have a nimh charger and another two chemistry charger.

The hedge clipper works pretty good. Strokes per minute are about half of a corded but no cords. Many raspberry bushes are shorter now. They will meet mr mower tomorrow if I feel up to it. I'll take the failed charger a part to see what I can mine out of it. The socket to run other stuff off a battery would be a good score in itself.

Must remember to put another 100 rounds of lungblower ammo into the car, we have a Texas star in one of the bays for tomorrow.

Speaking of Texas stars, when I made it to the club, there were two elderly gents set up in the steel bay. They had a nice cart and later I saw that they had their own Texas star that they set up. I watched them later as they policed their brass. One had the pecan/brass rolling wire basket and the other one had a U shaped piece of wood with a handle with 1/2" wire cloth on the bottom. He used a broom to sweep brass into his 'dust pan' and the sand fell out of the bottom. I like his contraption. I'm going to make one for myself. You can learn stuff from old guys.

Pork chop in oven, chicken breast will wait another day as rain is likely to interrupt my grilling.

That'd be a trick with my perch/smallest fillet knife even. 😯 What was your recovery and time frame like Gerald?
Today I sanded down the 100 yard bench and this time no varnish, I just did linseed oil. The previous times it was spar varnish which I didn’t feel lasted very long.

That looks fixed in position. Where is the back stop?

Cool idea. Someone round here even picks up the 22rf brass @ ye olde gravel pit.

Looks like a pretty significant mound behind the target stand.

Not sure I'd want to be lounging in those chairs under the shelter while someone is shooting..

You can see the berm way over there.........100 yards due east. It’s 8 feet tall and 20 feet wide.
it is fixed, the 6x6’s are set in cement.

Just to the right of the chair by the portable gazebo? Nice job btw Rich.

Mallard who poops on the dock got driven off by the owner who lit 2 screaming bottle rockets in its direction. The first one went off underwater with a muffled blump and a 10" or so smoky bubble.
We have a couple of our pistol match stage builder crew police the pistol club bays for brass, plus we allow/encourage match participants to help themselves to the spent brass after Level I events. Protocol for Level II events is all brass expended goes to the event staff. Plus there would be quite the delay if folks at the Level II events were permitted to recover theirs or anyone else’s brass. So far we have capped our Level II events to 360 participants and each stages is designed to be shot by a squad within a certain amount of times thus preventing log jams. Personally I leave all my brass used during any event behind which allows more time for socializing and focussing/staying in the zone.

Very short I felt, no shotguns or such for six months but rimfire after 30 days with X-ray showing healing beginning.

Daughter was surprised with a promotion ceremony yesterday, up to E4 (SPC) and pay equivalent to Corporal - which would be the next step if she chooses to pursue OCS. 🇺🇲

I see it now. When I first looked at it I thought I saw a house.
When I built yachts for a living one vessel took ownership and was delivered to Florida with a crew of workers doing the final fitting. Docked in Florida another super yacht owner ran into our ship while one of our finishers was screaming at the top of his lungs to stop!

Major structural damage on a fifty million dollar yacht for both parties involved. At that time we had the largest Marine Travel lift in the world and that incident required a lift. Ship was at capacity of our lift fully fueled and furnished and they busted through 12” of reinforced concrete moving it into a bay at our shipyard for a screw change. Rest of our shipyard had 24-28” of reinforced concrete for the entire yard.
'Tis the way with owners of superyachts..... They seem to think they know best and you should just shut up and let them do their thing. :(

Funny thing is the Captain can walk around along railings with a joy stick in hand and run the ship and bow thrusters. Apparently that captains only experience was running open water.

Made me think of this.
There was this fisherman that always had a good day fishing. His friend, the game warden, couldn't figure out how he did it, so one day the game warden decided to go fishing with his friend.

The fisherman took his friend the warden out to his favorite spot. Once there, the fisherman took a stick of dynamite out of his backpack, lit it and threw it into the water. The dynamite exploded and a dozen fish floated to the top.

The game warden said, "That's illegal. You can't do that."

The fisherman goes, "Really?" He then lit another stick of dynamite and threw it into the water. The dynamite exploded, and a dozen more fish floated to the top.

The game warden said, "Stop that now, and take this boat back to shore. I'm going to have to give you a citation and confiscate all your gear."

The fisherman said, "Oh, really?"

He lit another stick of dynamite, threw it into the game warden's lap and said "You gonna sit there and keep flapping your trap, or are you gonna fish?"

All caught up from the last visit.

Elf congratulations to your daughter on the promotion.

Been real busy I picked up a 30 day consulting contract that was too good to turn down. I did hit a nearby farm sale and picked up 1/4 sawn oak 1 1/2” x 6 for $25 and an almost new Milwaukee 1/2“ right angle drill for $50.

This morning I got an email from Precision Reloading they had shotgun premiers in stock, was able to get 2,000.
More rain forecast for tonight then hot a humid, I’ll hit the yard with some fungicide to get ahead.

Nice, reading of your daughter's promotion , e. (y) Easy to imagine that will continue for her.

That's a mighty big chair, Brent. Glad youse guys R out having some fun.

Good looking range pic., Rich! I'm a fanboy of boiled linseed oil, tho it's mostly implement handles & such. It's gotten expensive... like most everything else but it does last.

Can find it all too easy to relate to 'hot', TD. It's miserable here today. Way too hot for old men to B out innit... and I haven't.

Big boats w/crews don't much lend themselves to bream & bass fishing , so I've refrained from ordering one. I have been intrigued with the ID of shooting clays off one of the rear decks tho and have seen that depicted... in the movies. Doubt one could do both and hand-lining would involve a lot of hi-test line [more like rope] anyway.

Hope your bride is better, Wayne, so that you may go and shoot.

I've loaded a long ton of 28's today, figuratively speaking, but it's kept me busy and inside and out of the heat. Bride is busying herself in the kitchen w/dinner. Nuthin' fancy, round steak & taters w/the other side(s) still a mystery.

'bout time for a bourbon. Y'all be good. Whot news I've read this past week mostly isn't. Looks to B a long hot summer staring us in the face. Have seen it before. I may have to switch to mint juleps in the coming weeks, as I try to keep a Tom Wolfe perspective on the whole ofvit. Need to find some Catawba ['catalpa' in the vernacular] worms and go fishing... if it weren't so dad-blamed hot!
