WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Brent- you do NOT want to play around with Lymes disease. It's caused by a nasty spirochete- same as the bug that causes Syphilis. Bug is called
Borrelia Burgdorferi, carried by the common deer tick Ixoides Dammini. I have several patients who have Lymes arthritis, and it is incredibly destructive if it's not cleared from the body during the early soft tissue phase after a tick bite. Finish your antibiotics and keep following up with the doctor until your testing shows clear.
Does it ever really go away?
I’ve tested positive four times since 2016 and have done eight rounds of 14 days Doxicycline.
Three shoulder surgeries later I never healed right with a surgeon notes of sever tissue damage noted on back of shoulder blade looking as if hit by a car or baseball bat. Old injury and suspect the spirochetes set up shop feeding on that injury. Last year was jaw pain time with teeth that needed pulling, Clindamycin cleared that up promptly. Also suspect the little buggers set up shop there as well.
Very few Lyme literate specialists in this area with a very high rate of infection amongst pets and people. I told the surgeons to treat me the same as an Aides patient as my blood is contagious same as my Veterinarian as he could contract it from an animal. They had no clue yet studies show transmission through the mothers womb.

On a lighter note 2418 miles driven last month with just 52 gallons of fuel used for $200. Sure don’t miss that 135 mile round trip commute to work daily in a pickup averaging 18mpg. The local gas gouged raised the price to $5.08 today.

Exactly! I just could not see working 60 hrs. a week for a couple more years, and the other half said you have suffered long enough you deserve some me time tell em to pack it in thier ***! Supprised the hell out of me.
Perfect. That’s my target date. 14 more months. Congratulations. My FRA is 66 and 8 months, but for the extra $200ish a month, it ain’t worth it.

Sadly, in some patients, it never goes away. I've got one lady that I diagnosed 15 years ago, who takes antibiotics every day, and still has progression of destructive changes happening in her joints that's trackable on Xrays over time. At the time that I diagnosed her, she had already been to four different doctors, and Loyola in Chicago was telling her that she had viral arthritis in her knee and ankle, which was a "diagnosis of exclusion". At the time, Lymes cases were somewhat rare in our area, but they were spreading west from the northeast and progressively moving south from the northern states.
Present day, Lymes is an established problem here; we now have Lymes only doctors in the Midwest. I would highly recommend you find one. Either that or an infectious disease doctor. The reason why clindamycin was so effective for you is because it has the best bone penetration of any oral antibiotic. Personally, I think that the two week protocol of Doxycycline is inadequate. Doxycycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic, meaning it suppresses the growth/proliferation of bacteria, unlike more effective antibiotics that are bacteriocidal and kill the bug. If you can't find a Lymes specialist in your area, consult with an infectious disease doctor and have records of all encounters that involved Lymes pathology associated with your case, going all the way back to, and including initial contraction & treatment.

Made me think of this.

This story begins with June Woolf receiving a letter from Walmart claiming that her husband was no longer welcome in the store. When she reads over the reasons why, it’s no wonder they don’t want him coming in! Reading through the imaginative and mischievous things her husband gets up to in a store made me laugh out loud!

This piece of Internet humor has been circulating for many years and began as a list of funny things for husbands could do to pass the time while their wife shops. Over the years, it’s turned into a letter banning a husband from a store. The name of the store may change, as may the name of the wife and husband, but the joke remains the same!

“Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Walmart.

Dear Mrs. Woolf,

Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this type of behavior and, as a result, will ban your entire family from shopping in any of our stores if even one more incident occurs. We have documented all incidents on our video surveillance equipment. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Woolf, have been compiled and are listed below:

1. November 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people’s carts when they weren’t looking.

2. November 23: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

3. December 10: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the rest rooms.

4. December 23: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official tone, “Code 3 in housewares!” … and watched what happened.

5. January 10: Went to the Service Desk and asked to reserve a bag of potato chips.

6. January 23: Moved a ‘CAUTION – WET FLOOR’ sign to a carpeted area.

7. February 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told other shoppers he’d invite them in if they’d bring pillows from the bedding department.

8. March 5: When a clerk asked if she could help him, he threw himself down on the floor, began to cry and wailed, “Why can’t you people just leave me alone?’

9. March 26: Looked right into the security camera; used it as a mirror, and picked his nose.

10. April 2: While handling guns in the hunting department, asked the clerk if he knows where the antidepressants are.

11. April 15: Darted around the store, looking around suspiciously while loudly humming the “Mission Impossible” theme.

12. April 26: In the auto department, practiced his “Madonna look” using different size funnels.

13. May 1: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled, “PICK ME! — PICK ME!”

14. May 12: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed the fetal position and screamed, “NO! NO! It’s those voices again!!!!”

And last, but not least:

15. May 16: Went into a fitting room, shut the door and waited a while; then yelled very loudly, “Hey, Somebody! I need some toilet paper in here!”

Sincerely,

Mr. Wally Brown

All caught up after a couple weeks absence. Work has been real busy working with farmers spraying crops In between rains. So far crops look good with rain every few days but we need some sun to get the growing degree days up. The wheat in central Kansas should be ready to cut in a couple week, they should have a good crop and good pay days with high prices. Get ready for higher bread and beer prices.

Safe travels to those on the road. Prayers and best wishes to those not feeling well to heal soon.

Doxicycline is the standard protocol. Kind of up in the air as to how much or how long for initial treatment. I signed up and get a weekly Lymes newsletter and there are new treatments and protocols for initial treatment.

Finding any specialist that will take my case has proven fruitless with current insurance. Even the neurologist that I visited before doesn’t take it at least according to the girls at front desk. If I could get by them and talk directly to her things would be different.
