WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

When Onstar announced that it would no longer work on my late wife's 2015 Camaro we dropped our subscription and reported it to State Farm Ins., they billed me $49.00. Onstar diagnostics periodically sent the vehicle's odometer reading to State farm so we would qualify for low mileage drivers. I was told I could enroll in their Drive Safe & Save program with an app installed on my phone that would record all my driving habits plus I would have to report the odometer mileage every 6 months, I declined. I'm now looking at changing my vehicles and homeowner insurance carrier.

Since I only access this sight through Tapatalk and would have no idea how to leave feedback on a person through browser, or even how to log in on a browser, …. Let it be known that
@Rob01
Is an absolute pleasure to deal with.
Great communication,
Fast shipping,

Deal with confidence!

(However, he did make me leave the house to go to the post office for money orders, but I guess that’s fair because he had to go to the post office to ship)

It started raining last night and has continued all day.Nothing heavy just a drizzle.
Exhaust work on the Jeep went quick, with no drama.Picked up a couple of pulled pork sandwiches on the way home.Enough meat on one for 2 or 3 normal meals and cheaper than a Big Mac.I did not even eat 1/2 of mine.
Time to start supper.

If you don't mind me asking. What reason did Onstar give for ending the service for that year, model of car?
Prices for everything seem to be steep, these days. Ports and imports are a mess and fuel prices and shipping costs are thru the roof. How much steel is even still being made here anymore? I don't know the answer to that but wouldn't be surprised to find it is a fraction of former years.

Think it's bad now; just wait until the left coast has gone all electric w/trucks. :ahh:

And as far as tying things down... well, there is a good reason that a lot of pickup trucks have what's called a headache rack behind the cab and stuff not well secured has a very strong inclination to keep moving, should said truck find itself abruptly stopped. Has to do w/fizzicks, yano. I know of some fatalities where small dia. pipe and angle iron on a trailer wasn't well secured, and the Suburban's driver and passenger that were pulling it got skewered by it in an accident. Too, I've seen some doozy events and happenings take place w/cargo. A tractor-trailer lost a load of rolled steel on the interstate here one morning earlier this week! It shut the whole thing down for many hours, just trying to get that mess off the road. Envision 8' diameter rolls of steel coming apart like a rolls of toilet paper. That's what it looked like, and it had to have had plenty to do with not being well secured. Ouch! Tying stuff down securely is always a good ID, especially if it's riding behind you. And it's wise to not follow too close to anything carrying a load. I'm sure the areas where much logging is done have their own sets of stories to tell of.
--

Gosh but it's a pretty afternoon here! 66°, under sunny skies, wind W 12. It had been 64°, wind NW 17 G 24 under heavy blue/black overcast an hour ago! It changes often & very quickly during this time of the year. The quality of light and intensity of colours at the moment is just spectacular. The time for coloring eggs and Easter Bonnets nears.

They shutdown the network that version of onstr worked on.

I understand, but Onstar still uses 4g, and now + 5g, My Ex, has a 2015 Camaro, and still has the Onstar Protection plan, accident reporting. Just no longer gets the milage updates for auto service, ie; oil changes, etc. Just wondering.

When they went from a 2g to 5g network the change made most of the services inoperable with the entertainment system on many 2015 and older vehicles including ours. We had OnStar since the car was new and liked it plus used it, I miss it. OnStar thought they had a fix but it didn't work, they lost a lot of subscribers.

Does that mean 'the change made most of the services inoperable with the entertainment system'? Does the radio still work off the satellite?

I agree, to use 2g is dumb in the first place. Extremely poor planning. I'm without words, using 2g, and not covering 3g, 4g, now we have 5g! What idiots.
Not the sort of thing I would normally photograph so none in the archives :) ,,,, but it looks a bit like this brace at the bend in the fenceline here. The only difference is at a corner the braces are at 90° to each other (or whatever angle the fenceline takes) instead of barely offset from each other as the case in this brace. Concrete fill in the holes, 'natch, but leave the concrete at least 6" below grade and cover with dirt to avoid eventual rust or rot in the case of wooden posts.

Something "like that" for $160? that's nuts.

They lost even more services, we had the navigation plan which was the most expensive. It would automatically send odometer readings to the insurance carrier plus turn by turn navigation, you name it, it had it. My wife locked her keys and phone in the car once and a quick call to OnStar had it unlocked, I was told that would be lost as well.

I still have xm radio, gotta have the comedy channels & BB King's Bluesville plus Underground Garage. Sirius XM told me the change wouldn't effect them, so far they're correct as OnStar is the only service it did.

Sorry to hear that. I'll be checking with My Ex to see how she's handling this, for her 2015 Camaro. She loves that car! Red convertible, with black top. Even though she's my Ex, we're still good friends and I help her with whatever I can.

I understand I could have kept OnStar but would not have had hardly any services for the price plus paying a monthly fee for the app on my phone to make it work. I figure OnStar's support was like Microsoft ending support for the different os encouraging folks to buy new computers & cars, hum, GM planned obsolescence comes to mind.:whistle:

I accidentally pushed the whats this button under the armrest/console in my 2002 Mercedes E320. Can I help you, we see that you haven’t been into an accident. I’m like where are you, do you have a Predator drone in the area? Apologized for my button pushing and had a nice chat with the lady for fifteen. She discussed features and care and maintenance of my new ride for a good ten minutes.
Four days later took D2 and her besty down state for a college tour. Filled up car with gas and went to start car and leave, electronic key not recognized. Oh boy time for the button😎 Hello we see that you have not been in accident, how may we assist you?
Key not recognized in my new ride!
She connected me with a tech at 1am that wanted to send a truck 180miles to nearest dealer for repairs.
No way have had the car for just four days and not paying thousands for something that’s likely Simple.
He talked me through a reset of key recognition software and it started. Girls had went into store as I chatted with tech as I shooshed them to be quiet listening to tech instructions. Car started and off I went still talking with tech for a good forty minutes while I drove.
Upon finally finishing the call I looked in rear view mirror and told the girl’s what a nice feature and helpful people. Oops, no girls!
I left them at the gas station forty miles back😎

Never once since has the daughter wandered off while I’m at a gas station since. In fact the two of them refused to even get out of the car for rest stops afterwards.
Apparently Mercedes version of Onstar has no fee and good for life and it works everywhere. Perhaps when you drive they even send out the drones?

You've been entirely too exuberant lately.

I think it's time you put a ring on Pebble Beach Chick's finger and join the rest of us in misery. :ROFLMAO:

I just read where GM/Onstar upgraded Canada fro their 2g to 4g. But won't do the same in the US. I hope I don't get into trouble for posting this site. It's a forum, but the post is still available. Even looks like it may be an associate forum, within the same server. I don't know, but the page header looks just like ours.
