WELCOME TO THE WATERING HOLE

A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

I made it to the wetlands for a walk this morning. Didn’t feel like dragging along my heavy camera gear, so I took the Canon point and shoot with 50x optical zoom. I missed my Nikon as soon as I started taking pics, but it was still fun. One critter I wasn’t expecting to see was the copperhead. He was swimming through weeds, so it was impossible to get a good shot. Edit: After looking closer, it’s probably a northern water snake. They look similar to copperheads.

TGIF!

I thought I lost my suppressor earlier in the week. I was on the phone with the ATF to report it when my mechanical pencil ran out of lead. I reached into the drawer that I've searched many times for another writing implement and there it was. Hallelujah.

The grass along the driveway needs cutting again. Maybe Sunday as tomorrow looks like rain. I need to sharpen a mower blade. I should have a few take offs that I may find as I clean the garage. Running out of space, must organize and toss items. Need to make space to get the car in so I can put the trailer hitch on I've had for three years.

I need to get some camera time in, the Robins are back. Only got to see one Cedar Wax Wing and that was a long time ago. Snap shot, wasn't the best.

A very good work week, but glad the weekend is here. All caught up with TWH and chilling out a bit before heading out to dinner with friends. The South County chicks are driving up to hang out with us.;)

Hey Blinkin'.................................Did you say Abe Lincoln?
"What's he doin' here? "

Mel Brooks, History of the World. Great fun movie! :)

Hello, . . . , My Name is Don.

CZ75BD inbound. Stay tuned. Should be in my greedy little paws early next week.
Ya know, I was going to suggest a CZ75 to you when you were inquiring about n....ni.....nin..... .355s! I really like mine. Ya have to fix the hammer/trigger thing though. They make a kit for it.

Good luck with it. Congrats!!!(y)

Trying to stay up until Starliner docks with the ISS.

I have a new case for my allsky camera printing using white petg. I'm trying to reduce the case temperatures. I get a 40°F rise from an empty case in the sun. Add the raspberry pi and it gets hot. I was running a black case during winter as I needed the heat. I'm also going to move the camera up closer to the top of the 4" dome and mask off anything not in the FOV of the lens to reduce the greenhouse effect.
Darn. They ran out of sun for the first attempt at docking and my 3d printer spit out some old filament and triggered crash detection. Switching from black to white petg shows stuff that gets expelled that was hiding in the print head. I think I'm going to have to learn out to do a hot pull to clean the head out.
Brian, sorry to hear of your loss.

Farming hard work and long hours. Those that I work with farms thousands of acres with multiple crops and many times double crop.

Got my pasture sprayed this mornin, using the Polaris Ranger with a 15 gallon tank and 12’ boom. Took 6 refills and about 2 hours all the time wearing a hooded sweatshirt with temp in the low 60’s.

Yesterday morning the wife called me from the school’s office phone to tell me she forgot her cell phone. After the third email from her with instructions on what to if so and so calls. Decided to take it to her. While driving the 15 miles I looked up and saw this cloud, had to pull over and take a picture.

1 hour and 45 minutes to get to hotel in almost Times Square.
I’m on the 9th floor and all I can hear is the constant honking of horns.
Why in the ef to people choose to live here?

If it fell in the ocean, no one would care.

Not a soul in ACE tonite whence I fetched spider killer, dock's 1/2" nut n bolts, and a pk of M&Ms I hid from the Finn. None of it was cheap.
Gonna take Don's cue and bring McD's sausage/egg/cheese McMuffins with hash rounds for the guys before we, err, they, begin assembling the dock in frigid water.

I've stayed at the Marriott and Millennium on Times Square a few times. Not a fan of NYC but there is a fair selection of good food in that area. Other than business, that's all I care about when traveling alone. The Jockey Club over near Rockefeller was one of the most memorable, but plenty of good spots in Hells Kitchen which is walking distance.

We did spring break in NYC once when my daughter was in middle school, stayed at the Courtyard just off Times Square. I always hated going for business but it was fun to show my ex and daughter around. Went to a couple of broadway shows. We ate at Anthony Bourdain's place which was absolutely fabulous.

I've traveled all over this country but can't ever remember being as cold as I was waiting for a cab on the lower level of LGA.
I was interned @ St Albans Naval Hospital, Queens NY for 3 mo. in 68 with my bed next to a barred window I never even looked out of. Being in a full length body cast, pits to toes, with the back of my head to the window may've been why. :) Only noise I heard was when Jim Brown of football visited us and when guys were hollering for their overdue pain shots.
Mom was a 5'1 white lady navigating her way to the joint thru Queens to visit me very day but the black women took care of/guarded her once they found out why mom was out n about visiting her WIA son. (y)

I hope that Jay’s wasn’t hit during this afternoon’s tornado. If it was maybe I’ll search fields to the East for the collection of 52 Sporters that hang on the wall.
Was going to swing in on the return trip tomorrow for dog collars with brass name tags. After seeing the aftermath I think I’ll just stay headed north.

Temperatures were in the 80s°A before noon on Friday. Too miserable to get out and ride the Schwinn. Thought I would ride in the evening. Unfortunately my short nap lasted too long. When I woke up I went out to check the weather thinking I might get a short ride before darkness set in. My phone rang and I ended up talking to an old friend for too long. A front moved through as darkness set, dropping the temps by more than 20 degrees. Saturday's temp might hit 60°A at best with rain most of the day.

Friday morning I saw the three old planes my neighbor mentioned the day before. They were flying in formation mostly west, maybe a bit south. They seem to have departed the area. Not sure why they were here, as I could find no mention in media outlets of events in the area involving planes. All three had red tails similar to the Tuskeege Airman livery colors. Although they were single engine aircraft, they did not appear to be P-51 Mustangs, but they were a ways off, so I don't know. Not even sure there are three surviving P-51s with red tails.

This occurred this afternoon a few blocks from my house.

"A suspect is in custody after he crashed his vehicle into the Flagstar Bank on Niles Avenue in St. Joseph Friday afternoon. He was being chased by Michigan State Police when his vehicle struck another vehicle and then crashed into the bank. No one in the bank was hurt. A witness told us the suspect ran off on foot across the street and was caught by police in the McDonald’s parking lot. Police have not said why they were chasing him and his name has not yet been released."

Was not aware of the severe weather to the north until Lon's post.

Thunderstorms in the area.

An exciting life I live.
