D long. Glade you go t the gas mower up and running. Have you looked at Stihl‘s electric (coal power) robotic mower? You cab set it up to run at night, when it get low on battery it finds the charger. Saw one at a trade-show a couple years ago and was pretty cool.

We went over to the daughter and son-in-law’s for dinner of crab stuffed deer steak. It was very good.

Spring is here we found the first morel of the year, ended up finding 17. Most were real small so we marked them and will come back tomorrow to check on their progress.

Tomorrow is opening day of turkey season, rather than go out and set up. Think I’ll wait til I hear one and go to him. See how it works.

It’s been a couple weeks since checking in, it’s been real busy with growers planting in between rain storms and mushroom hunting. So far about 200 morel. Here are a couple photos of the equipment one of growers I’m working with is using. A far cry from the 6 row plant grandpa used.

Brian great photos with the grandkids.

Last week we picked up the wife’s new 4Runner TRD Off Road, she loves the color (Barcelona Red) and the upgraded radio, They ended up giving us $23,100 for the 2016 4Runner SR5 with 115k miles. I saw on line they have that one for sale $31,600 Considering we paid $39,000 for it new 6 years ago is insane.

Wife and I found 12 more morel mushroom, bringing us to 205 for the year. With the weather being cool and damp we might have another few days of growing weather. Went to a family owned garden center in St. Joseph picked up a bundle of sweet potato slips and got them planted before a lite rain this evening.

I bet pharmacy techs get lots of free swag from big pharma for peddling their goods. Under the lab coat has to be some great tee shirts.

Usta fabricate and install Corian wet walls for high dollar homes. Hansa made a shower head system that would hit you from all angles like a dishwasher. Their t-shirt said, “ Hansa cleanse thyself big time.”
One of best tee shirts I’ve seen and wish I had was from the World Dairy Expo. Folks at the American Breeders Association had tee shirt.. “We stand behind our work”

At the fertilizer company where I worked for a few year, we had “Connoisseurs of manure“ tee shirt.

Does anyone remember the game star shot it was on espn many moons ago. Was kind of like vertical trap. Was a team event kind of like the pro am. One celebrity and one professional
I remember watching the show, looked like a lot of fun to shoot vertically to break the clay in a zone and some of the celebrity shooters were pretty good.

Thinking of Starshot and celebrity shooters.

For several years I worked The Shot Show for our companies pet care group (sporting dog type product) our booth was next to the Hi Viz booth for those year. They always had their celebrity shooter Leslie Easterbook, most noted for the well built blonde in the Police Academy movies.

What a super nice lady, she went to college in Columbia MO and played in the KC symphony for a few years. So we had some geography in common. Every year she would sign photos to show goers and fans. After a couple years she would greet me with a hug and we would talk during lull, that year she signed my photo with..”great to spend the weekend together in Vegas” I put the photo up in my office. There were questions from co-workers.

I was out north east of Abilene KS this morning doing some research in a 100 acres wheat field taking Seed head samples. While walk up the edge of the field by the road I bumped a small covey of quail. They flew about 100 yards back into the wheat near a tree line. Did my heart good remembering hunting quail with my dad and grandpa up until I was a senior in college.
the wheat looks great.

Brian, sorry to hear of your loss.

Farming hard work and long hours. Those that I work with farms thousands of acres with multiple crops and many times double crop.

Got my pasture sprayed this mornin, using the Polaris Ranger with a 15 gallon tank and 12’ boom. Took 6 refills and about 2 hours all the time wearing a hooded sweatshirt with temp in the low 60’s.

Yesterday morning the wife called me from the school’s office phone to tell me she forgot her cell phone. After the third email from her with instructions on what to if so and so calls. Decided to take it to her. While driving the 15 miles I looked up and saw this cloud, had to pull over and take a picture.

All caught up after a couple weeks absence. Work has been real busy working with farmers spraying crops In between rains. So far crops look good with rain every few days but we need some sun to get the growing degree days up. The wheat in central Kansas should be ready to cut in a couple week, they should have a good crop and good pay days with high prices. Get ready for higher bread and beer prices.

Safe travels to those on the road. Prayers and best wishes to those not feeling well to heal soon.

All caught up from the last visit.

Elf congratulations to your daughter on the promotion.

Been real busy I picked up a 30 day consulting contract that was too good to turn down. I did hit a nearby farm sale and picked up 1/4 sawn oak 1 1/2” x 6 for $25 and an almost new Milwaukee 1/2“ right angle drill for $50.

This morning I got an email from Precision Reloading they had shotgun premiers in stock, was able to get 2,000.
More rain forecast for tonight then hot a humid, I’ll hit the yard with some fungicide to get ahead.

The company came this afternoon and finished putting in the wood burning stove we bought a year ago. The last 7’ section of pipe was installed 35’ off the ground in 30 mph winds and 97*. Better them then me.

Thinking about using the funds from the unexpected consulting gig to get a can for me 9mm’s. Ran into a sheriffs deputy at the mail center in town, told me the new e file system is turning tax stamps around in 16 days. Might have to test that.

Howdy all

Been a couple weeks since checking in, seems all the farmers I work with decided to spray their soybeans the last week it was legal and threw one in that cut wheat on Friday in Abilene KS putting me home after 9:00 pm. Attached a couple amber waves of grain photo, as we ran to beat the rain.

Throw in a good friend of mine’s sister passed away and a trip across the state for a funeral. She left a special needs adult behind that my friend and his wife have been caring for until they get social services into action.

Don’t know what the energy conversation is from heating oil to propane. Our new contract price on propane is $2.25 per gallon vs &1.72 last year. So glad we got the wood burning stove put in.

Just checking in. I was out in north east Kansas today spraying some soybean field, the corn is looking stressed and with no rain and heat forecasted some the next few days won’t help. On the drive home I got an email from one of the growers in north east Oklahoma, he is considering taking the insurance on his corn. Could be a rough year coming up.

Gerald happy birthday and congratulations on the new acquisition, I’m a sucker for Smith and Colt wheel guns.

Trimmed 6 large cedar trees that were in crouching on the driveway. Used the Stihl power pole pruner to cut 8 Polaris Ranger bed full of branches. Once it cools off a bit I’ll cut them down, they’re all 25’ plus with large straight trunks that should mill out to some nice planks.
