Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Good morning all and HAPPY EASTER!!!

Hope you all enjoy the new digs! Folks can now go back to look at older posts without chasing down other threads. The downside is that if you go away for a while ketchup will be a bear!!! 😊

I want to let any newbies here know that there is no need to read everything from the beginning in order to join in and post. You can always go back and read as much as you want whenever you care to do so. Jump right in, the water's fine!

Also, there is a pretty good chance that the sprinkles will pile up what with all the upcoming Donut Fridays. We can't expect BW to sweep 'em up every week, so try to clean up after yourselves!!! 😊

Yesterday was a nice slow day. I was able to complete the final touches on the raised herb garden bed that I built for an ex gal pal. I think it came out pretty good. I'll post a pic when I get to my PC. I also cleaned up the shed and surrounding area of all building debris so I can concentrate on moving 3 yards of loam into the garden beds to top them off before fertilizing and tilling.

After that, I will be visiting the grandkids at 2:00 and mom and family at 4:00. I was well behaved last night, so got lots of sleep. I did meet a nice friendly gal at dinner. She said she'd like to meet up later in the week!👍

......... as I sit here against the base of a triple oak... listening & looking for a Wiley long beard...

I'm going to miss the the lasts and the firsts and Rhody's great introductions every week. Thank you Rhody for your flipping dedication and perseverance.

And thanks. I have thought about the "firsts and lasts" going by the wayside. Maybe y'all can do a first, first of each month thing! There were three things that influenced my decision to make this change and I am truly thankful that I was given the opportunity by the (really not so evil) admin lady! Don't tell anyone I said that as I don't want to ruin her reputation! 😈

1. Over the past 10+ years, I have made it a priority to get the flip done every week through 4 major surgeries where I did the flip from a hospital bed with my phone, and quite a few late-night escapades involving a bit of vodka! Some of those were done at the homes of various maidens! While there were a few Saturday and Monday flips, most were done on Sunday. I kinda welcome the break.

2. The new format here at RFC did not allow me to close a thread. Therefore, the TWH thread from the previous week would remain open with 68 pages of "last, lasterest, really really last," etc.

3. Many of you have really great things that you want to post and would wait for the flip so they could be posted and read by everyone. Now you can just post away at your leisure.

I look forward to being able to ketchup at my own pace, and sleep late on Sundays!

The herb bed:

I used nothing but crates and pallets from work that were slated for the junk yard. This is a two-piece system with the top part being just the walls, and the bottom part being a piece of a crate with legs attached.

I lined the floor with rubber, wire mesh, and crushed bluestone for drainage.

The upper and lower sections were moved separately and only attached on-site with four l-brackets to keep it in place.

The final touches were added. A piece of aluminum angle to protect the upper edge and a dolphin that I made out of a piece of paneling. (She likes dolphins!)

It was a very nice day today. I got to hang with the grandkids for a bit and then went to my mom's house and spent a few hours with my family.

I ate waaaaaaay too much today!

A nice day on tap, but it's gonna rain like a mutha overnight. I will continue moving all that loam into the garden beds after I get out of work. It's slow going at one wheelbarrow at a time. I should have it done long before the rains arrive.

Howdy all!

Happy anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne!!!

It was a steady workday today and upon getting home I managed, with the help of my niece, got all the loam shoveled into all the garden beds. Also spread a whole bunch of fertilizer/compost.
I am glad we got all that done before the rains get here. It is supposed to be a heavy rain with strong winds. A classic nor-easter.

Now just need to add a different fertilizer, till, and cover with the weed barrier so that the soil heats up for planting right around Memorial day!

I have lots of leftovers for supper tonight so am staying home and chilling out for the rest of the night.

I like the new color Wook! I don't know what "The Dark Side" is all about.

OK, just tried it on for size. I can see your post just fine in that mode too!

Why didn't you just line it up and re-enforce the pole holding the gate and hinges???

This was quicker . Both posts are green board 4x6s, 30 y.o., and in a difficult spot. I did repack, shim and adjust the hinges the best that I could. At least I'll be able to reinstall these parts when I eventually have to replace the posts. It's a heavy gate, so support on both sides even with new posts won't hurt anything, well maybe a bare foot.😬

I have been building fences since I was 14 years old (50 years ago!!! ) Started with helping my uncle at his fence company. Mostly chain link and picket fences. Since then I have only put up a couple of vinyl fences by myself. The gates and hinges are the most troublesome and the first to get out of whack! Great "Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome" strategy!

Had a nice night out for dinner with galpal. Home now so should get just enough sleep so as to not be miserable tomorrow. The garage door guy came today and replaced the jackshaft motor that he installed 3 weeks ago with one that is working properly. Overall a great day!

It was a good day at work today. The weather was nicer than yesterday, and it was a steady but not a crazy physical day. No boiler sections required relocation!

Once home, I did a few hours of garden work. I had to relocate the wooden boards to which I staple the chicken wire fencing. Gotta keep the varmints out of the newly built garden section. I'm staying in tonight so as to be feeling good for work tomorrow. Currently watching Toronto beat up on the Red Sox

After a four or five month wait to see an audiologist and ENT Dr the day has finally come. Had several bouts of ear infections throughout the last year. .....
..... son and I rode three sections of MTB trail. Way too much ice cream and lack of excercise this long winter. I had buzzards circling close after one particularly difficult climbing section. Little sore but shoulders and back pain much improved after a good jostling.

Good luck with the ear situation LON.

Good on ya for getting restarted on the exercise. Glad them buzzards stayed away!!!

Here at work for another day of toil. Will be alling all the job sites in about 5 minutes to see what they need for the day.
