7.65 Browning is the cartridge case that exists on the precipice of this reality, and the alternate reality in the next plane.
Loose sight of one for a moment, and it'll slip over to the other side.

Kolbalt battery powered lawn mower arrived today, all unwrapped and ready to go. 😀

Lots of snow for both Yosemite Valley and Sequoia National Park tomorrow, Don. ❄
I'm looking at diesel heaters for the truck right now.

Kinda, but with three bicycle wheels and a much higher center of gravity.
I have the Schwinn tricycle I bought for my Mother so many years ago.
I used to ride it, a bit.
I thought about putting a battery, solar panel, charge controller and an electric motor on it.

Karen is off, Driving Mrs Daisey.

I'm going out to the Ballistic Laboratory to play.

Welcome New Guy.

Bedding is not difficult, but very scary. The possibility is permanently gluing your action into the stock. You may experience a sleepless night.

Congrats on the new wheels, Al.

I'm still struggling on the old computer while the new computer sits nearby idle, and dead.

Good shooting at sporty clays report, Wook.

I've gotta walk today. Not sure where yet.

TEST - prolly fail again.....

Yup - reverts every time, no matter when you tweak the code.
I even tried copying the bb code from another forum and pasting it here. Nada. Perhaps the local tech can program in an exemption for donuts.

Since I'm officially dead in the water on the 9mm Kurtz reloading project, (Bullet profile conflict with chamber of carry gun), I decided to start on fodder for the 1911s.

I've got everything switched over. Primed and loaded a hundred 230gr LRN Coated goodness.
I'm thinking of modifying one of them to better suit the style of shooting out Fresno way.
None of them are sacred. Hmmmm. . . .

Purple Violet Pink Font Magenta

I'm planning a journey to the range with a few 1911's in tow. Range opens at 1100hrs.

Thanks for the kind werds, Gents. My shooting acquaintance got a coupla years out of his heart transplant and a few trips to the sporty clays courses during that time. He held on... as best he was able.

Reading of passing out due to diabetic shock is nothing to play lightly. Comments noted. I know others who have been there. Nothing to fool around with.

Reading of what happened to your friend, GB, is simply heart-breaking. What a tragedy and horror. Perhaps down the road you can take his son to the range w/you and show him what his dad had in mind for the both of them. It is important that they hold the perp fully accountable for his heinous behavior and not the gun. Prayers for all affected and their eventual healing. That's just rotten and nothing in our criminal justice system will make up for their loss.

Was back out to the club late afternoon, last. 'twas still overly warm, very windy and overcast. Can't really do any serious practice in those conditions, buts it's still fun trying to hit crazy targets. Got a coupla boxes in w/more hits than misses and a fair amount of bull successfully shot w/some of the usual suspects before returning.

Bride fixed
linguini w/white [clam] sauce for dinner. We were in need of using some of the shallots on hand, before they got old & shriveled, like my hands. Seems like every time she fixes that dish, it is better than the last. She's had a handle on it for decades, knows it's one of my fav.'s and uses it as a successful way to unwind me. It's one of those dishes where one sets the stress aside and just enjoys a foodie's nirvana. It's that good! It's also good that she only fixes a small quantity, otherwise I'd blimp.

In other news; I've read of things you can't make up, stuff that I didn't wanna know, omissions,
commissions, horrors, fictions, addictions, nonsense.

Bought a plastic 'can' of Yuban™ coffee whilst picking up an Rx yesterday morning. Stuff used to be a
luxury at an earlier time. It was a bargain on a cost per oz basis yesterday, but I was really just wanting to mix it up a bit on the morning coffee's taste. I do that periodically, just because. There is no particular reason. It's the same w/pastries and white wines that I buy for the bride. Variety is good but like RF ammo, some lots or types are better than others. You can't buy target seeking shot shells. Heck, ya can't hardly buy shotshell components anymore, at all.

I received a generic email from Jake @ RMR bullets yesterday, Don, touting their newest development in 9mm PD hollow-point lighter pew-pew bullets. I'm thinking they may be the solution to your 9mm Kurtz project's stalemate. Give him a call, mention me and I bet that he will send you a small sample to try just for the asking. He has always been most accommodating to me. I've zero association w/them, aside from being a hunnert percent satisfied customer. Just saying.
I'll have a look see Wook.
Thanks.

Range Report

The Mosquitoes won. No contest. At times the clouds of skeeters were so thick they obscured my front sight.

Big too. I saw one catch a clay mid air on the shotgun line and fly away with it.

Well, . . .

They won.

45acp loads shoot great out of all three pistols. I had about fifteen that were loaded too long, by a couple of thou. They wouldn't chamber in either the Kimber, or the Iver Johnson, but the RIA ate them up.

Years ago I installed a Wilson Combat adjustable trigger in the RIA. So today I decided to show it some love. Ordered some goodies. Starting with a new recoil spring. 20#'s. Some oversized controls, a new hammer, . . .

The RIA is the one with the Bomar Sight Rib on top, adding significant weight to the slide.

Looked at thumb rests. Two different styles I can see. One requires drilling into the frame, which I'm kinda liking the idea of. The other replaces the slide stop pin. I wonder about function issues with this one.

Leaning towards drilling holes in the frame.

I'm going to change the grips to some G-10's, and skateboard tape the foregrip area.

It aught to be interesting, and amusing.

Good skeeter and range report, Don. If you can reload with bullets with the same ogive as the original 45acp that JMB designed the gun around, then they should chamber/load in all of your 45’s sans having to be selective of OAL versus specific gun. Another important 45acp tidbit is the magazine lips and the angle of the bullet coming out of the magazine.

Should have minimal issues with having the thumb rest will be affixed to the frame as it is a metal frame. Drilling the frame will have less potential problems than using the existing pins. Challenge is tolerance stocking with a pre drilled attachment versus the geometry of the existing drilled holes in the frame. Polymer frames and their flexing provide more challenges that will drive one bonkers.

I really like the various G10 grips I’ve accumulated.

Their nest was tucked away well enough that a picture with everyone home and feeding would not have worked too well.
Since there are no holes in the frame, the holes will be located somewhere in the vicinity I intend them to be, hopefully at an acceptable angle.

Did I miss the donuts?
Nuther dreary day with lots of rain last night. Flashes of light and roar of thunder accompanied the rain. Slept through it on the good ear. New ear drop prescription started yesterday afternoon. Difficult to watch through corner of eye to see the five drops drip in. Think my ear had smoke rolling out of it and smelt terrible.
Speaking of Smelt, sure could go for a bucket of Lake Superior Smelt. Foot long Smelt are caught regularly in Keweenaw Bay, L’Anse. Those would be great smoked as are Menominee. Whitefish smoked are just okay but the smaller Menominee and a sleeve of Ritz crackers and sharp cheddar are great traveling food.
Two days of warm enough weather to get the pups out to play. Breda sure is a great helper with the pups and loves her little brothers and sisters.
Donuts were yesterday.
If you missed them, you will have make up donuts to consume.

Smelt are disgusting.

I'll have whatever he's drinkin, and just leave the bottle. (y)
I can't join y'all.

I'm out in the ballistic lab with my lil Sig torn apart to plunk test boolits.

I'm getting brave. Figured out ezactly how short they have to be in order to chamber.

.945
Data calls for .975

Combined with being a tenth over max on the powder, I expect some energetic projectiles.

Loaded a couple hundred .45acp, and primed another couple hundred.

Ebay shipping notices are flooding my inbox.

Time to put a pistol back together.
Loaded ten rounds for tomorrow's test.

Don did the mag holder work?
Yes, for a double stack S&W 9mm
. . .

With a really nice selection of various shapes/type of bullets especially pistol bullets, OAL is best determined as what will feed and function in yer handgun of choice at that moment. 🤔 Sometimes what will fit in the clipazine limits the OAL, and sometimes the angle of the feed ramp etc.
In this case, the published COAL works great in three handguns, but notattol in the one I'm loading all of these pews to practice with. It's the shape of the chamber.
Loading them shorter is certain to increase pressure.

I did find more data for this bullet which suggests I'm not over max load, and it lists a shorter COAL than the other book, but still not this short.

I may be fine. It might beat my gun to death. I'll find out tomorrow.

I may bring a shotgun with me tomorrow in case the mosquitoes are thick again.
