A stress-free place to gather and share whatever is on your mind! A fun place of mutual respect where you can hang your hat, vent, relax and shoot the bull for a while!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate that faith.

To all others, Happy Spring!

Easter symbolizes a new beginning, so it is fitting that TWH has a new beginning as well!
Along with RFC, TWH has been remodeled!

Actually, it can be anything you imagine it to be!

I am happy to announce that due to the increased bandwidth of the new RFC, there is no longer a need for the weekly closing and re-opening of TWH!!! After 10+ years of weekly "flipping" we now get to keep the doors open continuously! My sincere thanks to our moderators, especially Sophia, for making this possible!

I would also like to thank all the members who have kept this boat afloat for so long! We have become like family here, and now have a permanent residence! (y) While we have many long-time members who have been enjoying the company found in this amazing virtual bar, we also welcome all new folks. Jump right in! The first drink is always on the house and Veterans always have an open bar!
Al The Infidel (Tubby Slayer extraordinaire) is the bar manager.

So, let's get this re-opening celebration going! Set 'em up, Al! Drinks all around!!!

Fantastic way to kick off a new beginning, Rhody. (y)

Many thanks to you for getting this started over a decade ago and for keeping it running as smoothly as it has all these years. Thanks, too, to the denizens of TWH who welcome new members to RFC and for keeping it a light-hearted place to relax while self-moderating so the flying monkeys can continue to relax in their cages.

For my friends practicing the western faith, Happy Easter! Christ is Risen! It's a day to remind ourselves of the presence of the divinity in all of us and a reminder to treat each other with kindness and respect in all we do.

So, how will ye grognards keep track of the days without the weekly flipper to remind you it's Sunday? How will ye cope with the last last having been posted at last? What will you do in the wee hours instead of hitting that refresh button hoping to be first to catch the flip? Will Donut Friday be the only call to the calendar?

[email protected] 3rd had I posted on the now extinct flip on this Happy Easter morning. Glad to find the welcome mat out, the lights on and the new old place still here and going strong. It's a bit chilly out; 57°, RH 72%, wind NW 10 G 22 under cloudy skies w/a 30 % chance of some rain before noon.

Yesterday was a busy and long one w the arrival of yet another cold front and very gusty northerly winds. It made the skeeting rather challenging, late. Had originally planned to be shooting a small club shoot the other side of Ft. Worth early, a 12 & 28 ga pair of events. Plans got changed when I needed to get a last and elusive number to my CPA who now resides it FL, so that she could get some tax filing matters in place and under the wire for me tomorrow. Mission accomplished, but it cost the morning. Seems that it is always 'something' but blessed to continue to wade thru most situations. Life has many challenges and ya don't get issued a can of Fix a Flat™ for it upon yer arrival. Faith, friends & determination have gone a long way in helping me to keep moving. Just saying. Of course, YMMV.

As it turned out, it proved a really good day. Not only got the 'magic number' to her but prepaid onerous utility bills enough to hopefully get us past the 4th of July and well into the summer's heat, tossed some accumulated 'junque' of the paper sort as I had need to get some things better organized. Had my FFL call that he had received a pistol that I'd bought from an out of state individual. Had a friend call and ask if we'd care to come over for dinner later. He was 'batching it' for the weekend and had some yardbird that he would smoke, if we'd come. We accepted the invitation. Got a call regarding some powder an individual had for sale who was getting out of the reloading game and ended up buying a new sealed 8# canister of both Promo and Herco plus a new one pounder of RamShot 'Competition' for $325 total! Win-win situation, for both of us! Never thot I'd see the day when I was happy to get powder for under $20/lb.! Yikes!! It's here now. My wholesale cost, if I could find any to buy, are well above that. Headed out to the FFL's and snagged the pistol, that proved another of those 'really good deals' that is going to prove good fun in the summer's sun. Came back by the club and picked up 2K Nobel Sport 209 shotshell primers that I'd ordered and another friend had picked up for me on Thursday. Got in two rounds of self-pulled skeet using the delay and shooting from a low gun position. North wind was wicked. Broke 80% with 7/8oz reloads in a Beretta 12ga O/U w/skeet chokes fitted. Paid out and headed home to snatch the bride and go the our friend's for dinner. Get off the freeway and to the first traffic light where I turn left from one of two lanes. There is a small econo-beater in the lane to my rt. When the light goes green, its moves to make the turn before me, nothing hurried. An older SUV going probably 70 mph comes out of nowhere from the left and shears the entire front off of that small economy car! It was so quick that the small car hit only did a quick 'quiver'. They were not injured, but their car was toast. The guy in the SUV did hit his brakes... after it was way too late w/damage already done. He looks back, decides no one was killed or injured and drives off! Both drivers were Hispanic. Police were summoned. Someone, inclusive of me, could have been easily killed. I was Smiled upon, yano. So was the person driving the car that was destroyed. The smoked yard bird was great and our friend fixed broccoli and asparagus for the sides that was also very tasty... and gud for ya too.

Finding myself with a great deal to be thankful for on this Easter Morning. Planning to go and worry some sporty clays w/a friend this afternoon, as it stands just now. It isn't raining yet. We received some sprinks on & off yesterday and there was a def. haze & mist most of the day. Weird pollen laden light and extremely windy.

Jack is back inside now and I'll finish my wee dram of Never Miss and try and conk... until the dawn cracks. It's lookin' like it may be a wet week around here, but it is April after all and any moisture received is a much needed blessing and we'd much welcome its presence. Like TWH, it's all welcome, regardless of where it comes from.

Y'all have a great day!

What happened to the other TWH that was supposed to be perpetual?
In on one! The last "1".

Happy Easter to all that celebrate.

48 and calm, but not for long. Windy, sunny and a high of 57 today. Yesterday was much warmer and windier than predicted.

Grass cut, ditches run. Left the ditcher on in case I have to go fix what I did, decent rain expected for Tuesday/Wednesday.

Today will be things around home.

Ham for Easter dinner. Wife came home armed with the knowledge regarding the difference between a pork butt ham and pork shank ham. Guy was putting more out and was educating the few shoppers on the differences. And they were on sale to move them out. Tater salad, deviled eggs and salad will round out the meal.

Other forums using similar software have threads that are a decade old or more. Sometimes it is fun to see what people were talking about a year, 5 or 10 ago.

Have a great day.

Mark 16:1-6 KJV
[1] And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. [2] And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. [3] And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? [4] And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. [5] And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. [6] And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

In. Hoping this one lasts.
Good morning all and HAPPY EASTER!!!

Hope you all enjoy the new digs! Folks can now go back to look at older posts without chasing down other threads. The downside is that if you go away for a while ketchup will be a bear!!! 😊

I want to let any newbies here know that there is no need to read everything from the beginning in order to join in and post. You can always go back and read as much as you want whenever you care to do so. Jump right in, the water's fine!

Also, there is a pretty good chance that the sprinkles will pile up what with all the upcoming Donut Fridays. We can't expect BW to sweep 'em up every week, so try to clean up after yourselves!!! 😊

Yesterday was a nice slow day. I was able to complete the final touches on the raised herb garden bed that I built for an ex gal pal. I think it came out pretty good. I'll post a pic when I get to my PC. I also cleaned up the shed and surrounding area of all building debris so I can concentrate on moving 3 yards of loam into the garden beds to top them off before fertilizing and tilling.

After that, I will be visiting the grandkids at 2:00 and mom and family at 4:00. I was well behaved last night, so got lots of sleep. I did meet a nice friendly gal at dinner. She said she'd like to meet up later in the week!👍

Thanks again Sophia for making this transition go so smoothly!

He is Risen indeed...Resurrection and Life...Amen

Knocked out two Kidd trigger jobs yesterday afternoon, easy peasy, and a HUGE improvement over the factory Ruger triggers...one on the New LVT and the other on a Walnut stocked 22" barreled 10/22 that doesn't exist per the factory.

Nah, traffic before 9am is headed to church down the street on Sundays and tuther way to work during the week Madam Smart Arse.

Holey moley! Glad the offender missed you guys Wook!! I try to look both ways when I get the green justin case and your pointed reminder proves its well worth the effort of moving the noggin to n fro.

30˚˚ on the button won't last.
IN! On the first, from the looks of it.

Edit to add: It will be interesting to see how this one progresses. I'll miss the "Last" wars (although many won't) but I guess we still have to take turns sweeping up the sprinkles.

Careful BW! Gobb is looking to shoot a Wiley long beard!!!

And thanks. I have thought about the "firsts and lasts" going by the wayside. Maybe y'all can do a first, first of each month thing! There were three things that influenced my decision to make this change and I am truly thankful that I was given the opportunity by the (really not so evil) admin lady! Don't tell anyone I said that as I don't want to ruin her reputation! 😈

1. Over the past 10+ years, I have made it a priority to get the flip done every week through 4 major surgeries where I did the flip from a hospital bed with my phone, and quite a few late-night escapades involving a bit of vodka! Some of those were done at the homes of various maidens! While there were a few Saturday and Monday flips, most were done on Sunday. I kinda welcome the break.

2. The new format here at RFC did not allow me to close a thread. Therefore, the TWH thread from the previous week would remain open with 68 pages of "last, lasterest, really really last," etc.

3. Many of you have really great things that you want to post and would wait for the flip so they could be posted and read by everyone. Now you can just post away at your leisure.

I look forward to being able to ketchup at my own pace, and sleep late on Sundays!

The herb bed:

I used nothing but crates and pallets from work that were slated for the junk yard. This is a two-piece system with the top part being just the walls, and the bottom part being a piece of a crate with legs attached.

I lined the floor with rubber, wire mesh, and crushed bluestone for drainage.

The upper and lower sections were moved separately and only attached on-site with four l-brackets to keep it in place.

The final touches were added. A piece of aluminum angle to protect the upper edge and a dolphin that I made out of a piece of paneling. (She likes dolphins!)
