The Infamous S&W Model 2213 .22 Pistol

Hello
Many Years ago, I had a Blued S&W model 2214 Pistol and like a fool Traded it off. That Mistake cost me a Hunt for many Years to Locate another one. I found the One shown N.I.B. with all it's Paperwork and original Box. It is the stainless model 2213 which I have seen very few of in the Past. I have wondered Why S&W stopped making these Neat Little Pistols. To me, They are a Lot Better than the 22-A's I have had in the past. They shoot well and are very accurate. Does any one else have one of these, ? Let's hear about yours. Hammerdown

I have one I use with a suppressor. GREAT gun!!! I also have a 422 and a 622 as well. Prices just keep going up on them.
Had it, lost it

Had one back when they were being made, loved it. So, what did I do? Traded it off for something I thought I wanted more, but didn't. Would love to get one back. Seems like they are hard to find, though. I wonder where they all are?
This is how it was

I have improved it some , and will try to get new pics up.

HD, they are factory off of a 422/622/2206, then cut "Very carefully" to fit the
2213. You only need one screw to hold them as the emblem helps to hold them in place also.
Glad you like my pistol, I am fond of it as well.
Do you plan on shooting yours or keeping it NIB?

Hello Tap
I figured those may have been add on's as I have never seen any Wood grips for the 2213 or the 2214. Nice Looking Job, and now you got me thinking I will add a set to mine as I am not fond of the Butt Ugly Black Plastic cheesy looking ones that came on it. :shakehead You are a Little late in asking about me firing this 2213. I ran about 200 rounds down the Barrel of it Tuesday of this week. I had to adjust the windage and took some off the front and rear sight to make it look even. It is a real tack driver and when I get more time will print out a Target to show Ya'll..;) hammerdown
Bought this one for my son about fifteen years ago. It is a limited edition brush nickle finish.

HMMM
I don't know anything about Limited editions in this model, But I do Notice that yours has a Springfield address and mine is Houlton, Maine. I do know S&W does not throw away anything so perhaps after they Ceased making the 2213 & 2214 they sent the left Over parts to Springfield and made them a Limited Edition I can't see any other features other than the factory address that is different than mine. . The brushed nickle finish was not standard. The serial number starts with "LMT" I believe. Headed off to bed so I can't get to it right now. SCSW has a small blurb about them, but I loaned that book out to a co-worker who inherited three HE's from his grandfather and wanted to look them up.

I got this gun a few years before the series was discontinued. The pocket guns were still cataloged after the larger series were dropped. I may still have some old S&W catalogs in storage.

My son has had this since he was five years old. I got him a Bianchi shoulder holster for it, had to cinch it up tight to make it fit.

His mother was less than enthusiastic about it.
HelloColby
Now that you mention it, it does have a slight Yellow Cast to it's Color. The stainless models appear to be more silver in Color. I have seen a Model 442 .38 Special revolver with this Brushed Nickel finish and have Wondered if it is really Nickel or Painted on like their newer Air-Lite revolvers have ? I alos Just Noticed they switched the Barrel address from the Left side of the Frame like mine has it to the right side of the frame like Tap's and Yours have. Mine came in the Blue Factory Hard case with the Rust Knox paper, Instructions, Warranty Card and Mass Compliant short Barrel restriction paperwork. Take care, Hammerdown
We packed up alot of stuff and stuck it in storage when we listed our home for sale a short while ago, so I cannot readily get to my box. The one I have did not come with the nice zipper case like the later models did.

Any "Yellow" color on my gun is a combination of weak, incorrect lighting; poor photography skills, and a severe case of being electronically challenged and unable to operate my daughter's digital camera, LOL!!

I wouldn't mind another 2213/2214 but the last one I saw was priced at $350.00 and that is a bit much for a poor government employee to cough up.:D

Hello Colby
Only the first 500 Models of the 2213 and 2214 that left the Factory when this model was first released on the market got the Fancy Blue zippered case. ;) Regards, Hammerdown
I've had one of the stainless for a long time now too. Great little guns. I've considered selling/trading it a few times since I rarely use it, but I just can't seem part with it. Although with them selling at about double what I paid for it new it is tempting.

What really makes me keep it more than anything else is that it's small enough to be handy but large enough to handle fairly well and it has very useable sights. Definitely the most accurate small pistol that I've had. Where most pocket-sized guns are point in the general direction type shooters, with the 2213 you can get a very nice sight picture and it actually hits where you aim! What a concept! ; ) Plus it even has a nice fairly light, consistent and clean-breaking trigger. And a very well made and solid overall design.

See? Now I have to keep it! lol

My only complaint is that the shape of the grips isn't the best fit for my hands. I've looked some but never found any others for it besides the universal-type Hoages which aren't much of an improvement really. I can live with them as they come though.

S&W 2213 for $225.00.

While looking around in a gun store I saw a 2213 in excellent condition for
$225.00. Told the owner that I really liked it but I would have to think abut it.
Got home and did a search on the 2213, 2214 and 422 series. Well the banks
were closed so I got down to the gun store as soon as I could and gave him
a check. Got the gun a few days later and shot a couple hundred rounds with it.

It's a tack driver and is definately a keeper. It's well made and got great sights.

Out of my small humble collection it's my favaorite. It's loney now so I am on the lookout for it cousins (422, 2214 etc.)
