I found this rifle while browsing the used guns at a local Cabelas. I had read about these rifles in the past, and about the extractor problem but had never seen one on a rack. Apparently it was "used-unfired". Not a mark on it. The magazine well didn't have even the lightest scuff. Seeing I have a friend/co-worker whose hobby is guns, I'd ask him to check here at Rimfire Central about the extractor problem and do the modification for me, which he did. Funny thing is I live just down the road from the Rochester, N.H plant where these were made and never came across one? I'm glad I took the chance as this rifle shoots great! My friend also told me that in his opinion, the extractor shouldn't be a problem unless the bolt was allowed to continually slam shut on an empty chamber. I don't know for sure, but I am taking all precautions as I'd like to shoot this rifle for years to come. So when I am finished shooting for the day, I make sure I slowly release the bolt. So far, so good. I have shot some amazing 50 yard groups and this rifle is much more capable than I am. Here is a picture of a very well made rifle. The scope is the new Nikon ProStaff 3-9 x 40 Target EFR with adjustable objective. And at $189.95 with a promotional $50.00 rebate from Nikon, it was a steal! It's not quite as nice as my Leupold 3-9 EFR rimfire, but very close with a few features I like better. And at a little more than 1/3 the price of the Leupold, it's a great scope. In case you're wondering, the rifle did come with the Williams fibre optic sights, but I took them off because the rear sight interfered with the objective lens of the scope. It looked odd with just the front sight on it.
