Just wanted to here some opinions and gleen some knowledge,
What are some good synthetic stocks and where is the best place to look at pics/specs ? I think I have decided this what I want and just need to narrow it down to a couple of choices.

Ps. I have a Houge in the factory contour, I like it but want something stiffer, aslo I am looking for a .92 dia stock.

Thanks in advance

Thanks both of you guys

Klof,

Have you done any mods to your houge ? bedding, pressure pad etc. ?

I like my factory contour houge but the action screw feels mushy when I tighten it and I cannot keep the bbl centered in the channel.

What do all you other houge owners do to make your stocks perfect ?

and keep the opinions rolling on other stock I should look at

thanks

Hogue mods.

I bedded the action in acraglass. It took only a tiny bit of compound to do the job. I also put just a little bedding near the foretip of the stock to center the barrel in the channel -- not enough to really provide any extra upward pressure. The action screw was also a little long for my Adams and Bennett .920 stainless barrel, so I filed a couple of threads worth of steel off the end. As far as modifications to the stock, those are all I have found necessary. The finished rig shoots consistent five shot groups at 50 yds. of .5 inch or less -- depending on what kind of day I'm having!
I suggest you read up on the info here at RC. These guys know their stuff. They can be invaluable.
Good luck with your project!

I also have the hogue stock and like the way it feels. I have a 20" barrel in it and have it bedded to the balance point. after that its freefloated. i had to melt back some of the rubber to get it to not touch the stock at all but it shoots good for me now. I am howver thinking of either scratchbuilding a fiberglass stock or the bell and carlson. I cant afford the mcmillin. i have never made a stock before so im either asking for trouble or will have a nice project.
