SuperSport Heavy

A SuperSport Rifle is a "Traditional Sporter/Varmint" stock semi auto with a heavy barrel in it. What is a Heavy Barrel? Anything larger than .750" but by default most will be .920. Any muzzle diameter larger than .750 is welcome if you can cram it into a sporter/varmint stock. Heavy is a description of size rather than weight as you will see in the barrel rules.
.
SuperSport is open to ALL brands of semi auto rimfire rifles. This is NOT only a 10/22 Forum. Perfect for the Marlin 7000 for instance.

It is the perfect Still Hunting/Plinking/Target shooting fun gun but may or may not be the kind of rifle you want to carry around all day or shoot offhand for hours due to heavier weight on most of them.

So what are the "rules"? First I would like to say that these rules have been voted on by the members of the SuperSport Heavy Forum. I am the Moderator NOT the rule maker!

NO military or "Tactical" rifles here! This a "Traditional Varminter" class of rifle.

Action:
Any semi auto brand is eligible.
Any modification inside the action that is legal (no full auto for instance).
Action may be refinished to improve it's appearance. Aftermarket or 80% actions are welcome. Custom one of a kind actions are welcome as long as they are semi auto.
Extended magazine, magazine release and bolt handles are fine.
Any SAFE trigger mod is acceptable. This includes aftermarket triggers.
No bolt, lever or pump actions allowed. This is a semi auto forum only

Optics:
Any scope or optical sight
Any normally mounted scope mount and/or rings including cantilever barrel mounts.
Almost any iron sight is fine. While we prefer the look not to be strongly military (Tactical Forum is a good place for those) many good sights do have a slightly military look and as long as the rest of the rifle is Sporter/Varmint they will be fine.

Barrels:
Stock, Modified stock and after market Varmint dimensioned barrels over .750" at the muzzle are okay.
Minimum outside diameter of the muzzle must exceed .750". Barrels may be thinner than .750 along their length as long as a portion of the muzzle end is larger than .750". "Running Boar" barrels are an example of this.
Suppressors (where legal), compensators and treaded barrels capped or uncapped are okay. No large "tank" or "Barrett" style brakes allowed.
Barrels can be solid carbon or stainless steel. Aluminum with steel liner, carbon fiber wrapped around steel liner. "Tensioned" barrels with steel, aluminum, titanium or carbon fiber sleeves. Sleeves may be solid walled or slotted or drilled for ventilation. Injection molded plastic over a steel liner is okay. Although these barrels rarely give great accuracy that is up to the owner.

Stocks:
Factory, Modified Factory, and Sporter weight and design, aftermarket or custom stocks allowed.
Stocks may be wood, wood laminate or synthetic (injection molded plastic, carbon fiber, Kevlar or other "synthetic" materials) .
No add on keels or rails to make the stock ride the bags better.
NO THUMB HOLE or MILITARY/TACTICAL stocks. If we allow these we are stepping into Ultimate and/Tactical Forum's places and we are not here to steal their Threads.

Ammunition:
Any factory loaded rimfire ammo of 17M2, 17HMR, 22 Short, 22 Long, 22 Long Rifle or 22 Mag. If someone makes a semiauto 5mm Rem, Winchester .17WSM or 56-56 Spencer they will be allowed too.

Anyone can ask for consideration of a new rule any time. Anyone can ASK for a re voting to change old rules but will only be accepted as long as a majority of the SuperSport members want to reconsider that rule. We are not going to re vote every rule on the wish of one person. The members here discussed these rules and voted and it will take a majority of current members (that being anyone that has ever been part of this Forum on a regular basis) to bring a re vote. This keeps us from constantly having to vote on the same rules over and over on a whim.

The SMALLEST majority that passed above barrel rules (for instance) was a 2-1 margin so that shows strong support for these rules.:bthumb:

Ruger 10/22 sporter - sleeper

Good Morning SSH members. I'm a very new newbie after lurking for a while. I'm in the process of assembling a custom 22lr rifle that closely resembles a Ruger Sporter. The barrel diameter at the crown is 0,870" attached to a Kidd action, screwed and bedded into a traditional sporter stock. Does this pass muster as far as the SSH rules are concerned?
This specific build is for me to compete in CMP rimfire sporter events.
Your comments are most welcome.

Welome To RFC
It sounds like a SuperSport Heavy to me.
Figure out how to post pictures, and start a thread here in SuperSport Heavy, showing your progress, or your completed build.
