I just finished my Fajen stock, I ordered coffee colored wood. I hit it with one coat of sealer and it didnt darken like I had hoped and planned it wood
I wanted it darker but it had one coat of polyurethane on it already. I do leatherwork also so I thought I would try something. I diluted some leather dye with denatured alcohol and use a dabber to apply it over the polyurethane finish. I think it turned out great ! Alcohol penetrates with no problem. I put 4 more coats of polyurethane ontop. Here are some pics of the before and after. The after is before the polyurethane was applied.
