Stainless carbon fiber wrapped barrel for M4

830 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Northport
Does anyone know if there is a company that makes a stainless carbon fiber wrapped barrel for the M4-22? I was looking to set up one of my Elite rifles for league shooting hoping that a carbon fiber barrel will help with the cold barrel shift. I have a precision bolt action .22 that I use now but need the versatility of a semi-auto in some shooting. Just figured customizing one of my M4 would be a cheaper option than buying a new precision semi-auto.

I can't find anyone that is, but Taccom will chop it and put it on a diet to around 10oz. Should be good for steel challenge, but probably not for any long range use.

This sounds terrific! And a VERY good price, too.

I have a similar Wiland LLW pinned-tube barrel on a 10/22 race rifle for competition work.
Go ahead and look that up to see what it costs.

Thanks for the post!
I have the Taccom and the Wiland barrels for the 10/22 platform. The actual barrel before the shroud is 1.5 inches longer on the Wiland barrel so creates more back pressure to cycle the bolt. In order to get the Taccom barrel to cycle reliably I had to change the bolt recoil spring to a lighter weight spring.

The other issue with both barrels is the buildup of carbon inside of the shroud on the crown of the barrel. Taccom has a tool on a long rod for cleaning inside of the barrel. Wiland does not have anything for this problem. Accuracy really suffers once the crown is compromised.

The last thing to consider is service. Wiland has a lot of great products, however they have the worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. orders take forever to get filled. They seldom answer emails or answer their telephone. Taccom on the other hand has always given me great customer service.
