SS is back home! But.....

Well u received my Ruger ss back from the factory today. Bought the gun (new) a month or so ago, had it a week and had to send back as it failed to fire anything but federal ammo. Took it to the gun shop and they just stuck it in a corner for a few weeks!! Finally got it out and Ruger replaced the firing pin.
I picked it up today....test fired every ammo combo I had and it worked flawlessly! HOWEVER...the rosewood grips now look like someone took an orbital sand to them and scratched them up bad! And the strangest thing, the ejector rod is rattling now like crazy. It didn't do that before. Sorta at a loss as to what that could be????

I'm at a little bit of a loss on the ejector rod rattling around, it's under spring tension and that is unusual. It's a shame that it might have to go back to Ruger a second time. For the grips, you could take a few photos and contact Ruger and they might just send you replacements.

Yeah its really strange! I can't figure it out. I'm gonna contact Ruger to see what they say. Either way, this has been disheartening as I've always loved ruger firearms. Seems like the quality has dropped.
I totally understand what you are saying. Just curious, trying to put these issues aside, what is your impression of the appearance, and the functioning of the revolver otherwise?
i truly love the gun otherwise i would have gotten rid of it with the intial issues. i'm happy to say that it is digesting any and all ammo now. its also very accurate for.
I'm sure Ruger will replace the damaged grips for you. As for the rattling ejector rod, is the ejector rod housing tight, or has it somehow become loose?
I contacted ruger and they're sending grips as well as a new ejector rod assembly. The ejector rod housing is completely snug...its very strange.

Thanks for reporting back. I will be anxious to hear whether what they send you will be satisfactory.

Something sounds strange.

Did you make the call to Ruger and send it back ? or did you take it to the gun shop to be sent back ?
Was there a work completed sheet in with it when you got it back?

i took it back to the gun shop and they sent it to ruger. i did call ruger to verify that they got it because the gun shop just stuck it in the back for almost 3 weeks!! i did get a work completed sheet showing that they replaced the firing pin and did a range check for function.
