Huy Fong Foods based in Irwindale, ca. has announced that a failed pepper crop has essentially brought their Sriracha Hot Chile Sauce (think "rooster") production to a halt at their 650,000 s.f. facility. Normally they produce 3000 bottles an hour, 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. During the red jalapeno harvesting season, over 21 tons are delivered to their facility each day.
I've been to several large chain grocery stores recently and there is none to be had. I'll have to check out some of the smaller independents in my area. Fortunately I have one unopened bottle in the pantry and half a bottle in the fridge.
