Well... I think I may have solved the "first shot cold barrel blues"...by accident! I was going shooting outside (which in January in Minnesota is either dedication or idiocy) so I put a few of the rechargeable heat packs (the kind with some kind of liquid in them, and a small metal disk that you flex to activate the heating affect) in my guncase to use when my hands went numb. I must have bumped, or otherwise disturbed 1 of them on my way to the range. When I got there, the temp was around 5 degrees, but when I opened my gun case the 10/22 was almost too hot to touch! Long story short, I didn't have a first round flier, in fact I shot my best ever! 10 shots at 50 yds, with a max. distance between holes of just under .25"!
Maybe all luck, but I'm definitely going to go for a repeat performance soon!
