Skinner sights, who has them and likes the?

I’m looking at skinner sights for my golden boy. I’m looking at the one that mounts in the screw holes under the factory sight.
My question is how well does the peep sight work that far forward.
My other option is to mount a tang sight if I can get the mounting info for it.
Thanks for the help.

I have the barrel-mounted Skinner peep on my H001T. I like it much better than the buckhorn sight. Works well for my aging eyes and mates well with the barrel.
I recently got a Henry H001TRP 'Small Game Rifle'. This version comes with a receiver mounted Skinner Peep sight. The rifle shot high out of the box, and needed a different front sight.

Henry would not mail me a the proper replacement. I was told to send or take to the Canadian warranty depot. Took for warranty(3 hour round trip), he replaced front sight with one for a 357 Henry, tallest he had in stock. When I got home rifle was still shooting a little high with no adjustment left in peep.

Frustrated with Henry's lack of support, I went to Skinner's site, followed their instructions, and ordered a taller fibre optic front sight and another smaller diameter peep.

I've got a barrel mounted Skinner peep on my Golden Boy and love it's looks and functionality. SO much better for me than the OEM. Contrary to what's been said I didn't need to replace the front sight. Kinda figured from what I'd read that I'd need to replace it but that wasn't the case. Just made a couple of very minor adjustments and she was all good for shooting out to 45-50 yards. JME

With the barrel mounted rear sight you do not always have to replace front sight. But when you mount back on the receiver it raises the rear sight and you need a taller front sight. Still loving my setup.

Went to the range the other day with my new H001L. My buddy brought his GB with barrel mounted Skinner peep and OEM front post.

I shot both indoors at 25yrds side by side. Even with the shorter sight radius I found I could shoot my H001L more accurately vs the GB. There was too much room for error with the peep sight mounted on the barrel. Accuracy would probably improve if it was mounted on the receiver but then you may have to mess with the front sight height (as some have reported).

However, both Henry's were a blast to shoot!

To "kinda" correct my post above the front sight inserts for my BRNO 4 didn't come from Skinner.

Anyway, here is my Skinner rear and a rear sight dovetail blank that holds an extra Skinner aperture. Mounted on an old Marlin Golden 39A Mountie.

Kiss that Mountie is a good looking setup!
I have a Skinner receiver mounted peep on my Henry pump
I have a Skinner on my H001 and like it. It's not as precise as a tang sight, but gets the job done and is accurate
I have a skinner on my Marlin 1894CB that I use for cowboy and i love it. a fit of a pain in the butt to adjust but once you get it set, your golden.
I got mine when Skinner was making them and selling them on eBay. They have improved a tiny bit since then.. offering multiple apertures, and brass or brass/steel combinations etc. but functionally the same.
They are about the most inexpensive peep sight you can get. I wouldn't hesitate. GO FOR IT
I put a Skinner on the receiver of a Marlin 39A and replaced the front sight. I adjusted the sights for a center hold at 77 meter turkeys and hold for all the other animals. Works well enough and much easier to use than the original barrel sights.
