Will someone chat about silhouette?
I’ve seen no post as yet.
Lapua Monarch Cup is a go.
Only 2 Nationals so far.
USA at Ridgway
Mexico the other.
Sorry to our Canadian shooters for now.

The club has what they have and their rules. I'm in no position to propose any changes. It has a several year waiting list, and significant cost to join, but matches are open to anyone with a minor entry fee.
Never hurts to ask.
I did.

My daughter and I compete there in 100yd iron-sight matches, but the silhouette is not feasible given their rules.

Yes, Fairfax Rod and Gun Club. Small Bore Rifle Silhouette – Fairfax Rod & Gun Club, Inc. Just e-mail the match director to get on the email list to get the gate code.

High Power is the first Sunday of every month March - October and smallbore is the 2nd sunday of every month March - October. Unfortunately October is right around the corner...somewhere in between the break there is a war rifle match where any service rifle is allowed for a 200m silhouette shoot. On top of that is a $1 per shot at an egg at 200m and last year there was a .25 cent per shot egg at 100m using pistol no braces
Sounds like fun. The only "war" rifle I own is an old mauser K96, in 6.5x55. I'm not sure if its accurate enough for silhouette, I havent played with it much, just enough to know it needs a taller front sight. Still sounds like something I'd like to try. I'll get set up to receive the posts, thanks for the info.

Everyone should be happy to hear the border is, once again, open for people coming to Canada. No more vax requirements etc. We hope this allows us to start hosting the shooters from across the line, at our Bull River Shooters range in 2023. It's been a long couple of years. Now we just need fuel prices, ammo prices, and components prices, to come down! WH
It’s 2023,a new year. That means it’s time to renew the NRA Silhouette Classification through NRA Portal if you want your scores to count and be recorded.
Just a reminder.
This is not the match directors job to get you paid to the NRA for Silhouette Classification.

There is a new Silhouette website called North American Silhouette Shooters Association.
This is a very professionally designed site for silhouette enthusiast.
Can someone please do the highlight for this ?

Not sure what you mean by "highlight" but I've added the direct link to your quote above.

You are welcome.

To add to the topic... I have written two articles for the NASSA technical blogs. One is a primer on dovetail scope rings and the other is my choice and modifications of the HFT-500 Open Air Rifle.

I hope you'll check them out.

I have a question about this; is renewing through the portal required for shooting in NRA matches like at Nationals or can I participate and my scores are just not recorded?
nationals, regionals, state matches you will need to have a current nra silhouette classification to shoot the matches. club matches it is up to the match director. i shoot at some clubs were the match is not a approve nra monthly match. so it is fun match, just like shooting in the back yard. i shoot at other clubs where you need a current nra classification to shoot the monthly match.
Thank you very much for confirming what I suspected. I guess I need to decide if I want to go through the trouble and go to the Nationals this year.
Thank you again.
NASSA??? I assume this isn't a new PC name for the space agency.... so, what is this?

See for yourself... NASSA Silhouette
This is a practice target of 1/5 chicken imposed on a 1/5 ram.
The idea is to be shooting a spot on the animal, the chicken.Same target at each distance.
This concept is from Chris Winstead.Dustin Flint also recommends spot shooting.
I like this method as you can keep a record of progress and also see if your pulling, pushing, dropping shots.I shoot 15 shots starting at chicken distance.Set a goal for yourself, say 10 or better of 15 consistently before moving to next distance.Dont go beyond C&P if your not reaching the goal. This short range program should help reduce the wobble area and also indicates problems with position, trigger technique, ammo, etc. As Dustin says “ match is won on not missing C&P”
