I am cosidering haveing my Butler Creek barrel shortened to 16" Does any one know a good gunsmith who could do this without screwing it up. If so e-mail me and let me know.

There is a gunsmith in Jasper, Alabama named Gallegher (spelling ??). Can't recall his first name right off the bat, but I will get it and re-post in the next day or two. This gunsmith was recently mentioned a gun magazine for doing a Ruger Vaquero conversion to 32-20, and the author of the article really praised his work.

I have talked to him about a barrel shortening project on a factory carbine barrel, and he was interested in the project, but I haven't had much time in the past year to do much of anything. When I get his full name (and correct spelling), I'll re-post.

I just got a Savage MarkII-LV back from "Shooter's Oasis" in Ogden, Utah. I had the barrel shortened from 18" to 16", as well as work done to improve the trigger. They did wonderful work, at a very attractive price. I reccomend them 100%
