Shaw or GM barrels? anyone have experienced both?

I recently decide to do my first 10/22 build. So down the rabbit hole we go.

I had originally thought about using the green mountain heavy sporter barrel but looking at Shaw barrels I'd have to say they also look like a strong contender. Kidd would probably be in the mix as well if they shoot that much better than GM or Shaw for the price difference.

Has anyone here had barrels from both GM and Shaw that could give some feedback what you thought of each, which gave more consistent accuracy with more ammo grouping well , as well as ease or difficulty in the fitting of the barrel to receiver?

The gun will be a hunter as well as a target shooter so I'm open to sporter or bull barrels.

Tried ordering a 17" but the place where I ordered from ran out. Ended up finding a LVT barrel by Ruger. Still like to get a GM. So I can test out them highly regarded barrels.
Just has a note on the bottom of each barrel saying about what it can't (barrel) load with.
Another vote for the FJ Feddersen barrel. I put an 18" non-fluted on my 10/22 and I'm very pleased with it's accuracy. As a former benchrest competitor, I'm picky about accuracy and my Feddersen delivers. I'd buy another one.
I've had both, and both were excellent shooters. One was not better than the other, in my experience. Only a VQ I had shot better.
Thanks

thank you
Got my Shaw new for less than a $100, one main reason I picked it and am very glad I did.
darn good price

no hyper right? I wouldn't be shooting that anyway.

I've heard they make a great barrel as well.
I’d take a good look at the Fedderson barrels. I have 3, and they all shoot identical. All 3 shoot very good, and like has been said they have a no questions asked guarantee if you have an issue. Also there shipping is very quick. One other thing about them is they seem to shoot most ammo good. Some barrels are very ammo picky and may only shoot a couple good.
I did the Shaw 18" sporter taper on my 10-22 sporter. After break in it is fantastic. At 50 yards it takes out the center of the target with no issues. Fed auto match and CCI stardard, and blazer so far.

Awesome, thank you
This might be of interest E.R. SHAW - 10/22 Threaded Target Barrel, Blued - $99.99 w/code

Akso , as far as I can tell , the CCI stinger is the only 22 lr with the longer than standard lr case . And that is the reason that its not to be shot out of a rifle with a benz or match chamber as they have the leads running up closer and the extra case length will damage them .But as far as I can tell , the speed of the round alone has no affect on the barrel/ chamber.
haven't messed with a shaw barrel since the '80's... back then they were pretty hit or miss when it came to accuracy, so I pretty much gave up on them

I'm pretty much a GM guy when it comes to buying barrels for budget builds nowadays...
Had both and the Shaw barrel out shot the GM with a heavy majority of the ammo we used
I have a buddy with a Shaw and it’s the most accurate rifle he owns. And he owns many!

I got a 16+” non-fluted 0.92” Feddersen for a Christmas present. It shot 1.5 MOA with Lapua Center-X and had 12 failures to extract within the first 150 rounds. Feddersen took it back without question and emailed a shipping label too: very smooth transaction. Seldom does one find a company that stands behind its product. For this reason alone, you may consider a Feddersen barrel. I have read good and bad with all 10/22 barrels, and having a warranty (that actually works) is peace of mind.
I'm another Feddersen barrel fan. I chose the 18" taper model as I wasn't wanting to invest in another stock. I plan to use it for 100 yard steel chicken matches using 6 power max on my scope and RWS rifle match as the ammo. A Harris bi-pod and Protektor rear bag complete the set up.

On a no wind day, I'm able to keep 5 rounds under two inches so I should be able to hit chickens also. Pigs, Rams and Turkeys, no problem.

I looked LONG & HARD for a replacement barrel. Ended up with a Kidd Heavy Taper 20in. It has a 1/2 in guarantee at 50 yards. Rather than luck of the draw with the others! Easy to install with the freeze/ heat method. Looks & balances nicely in my Walnut Deluxe Sporter stock. After 1500 rounds, not one problem! It has run FLAWLESSLY since day one! shoots in the .42 at 50 yards with SK.
I will most likely be getting a Feddersen barrel to replace the Shaw barrel I have. The Shaw barrel seems to only like cci blazer. The ammo isn’t consistent enough for small groups at distance
