Shaw or GM barrels? anyone have experienced both?

I recently decide to do my first 10/22 build. So down the rabbit hole we go.

I had originally thought about using the green mountain heavy sporter barrel but looking at Shaw barrels I'd have to say they also look like a strong contender. Kidd would probably be in the mix as well if they shoot that much better than GM or Shaw for the price difference.

Has anyone here had barrels from both GM and Shaw that could give some feedback what you thought of each, which gave more consistent accuracy with more ammo grouping well , as well as ease or difficulty in the fitting of the barrel to receiver?

The gun will be a hunter as well as a target shooter so I'm open to sporter or bull barrels.

Just Shaw. I put one on my stock 10/22 and am very happy with it for accuracy and function.
Shoots Federal Auto Match very well.

I put one from shaw on my 10/22 and all it did was prove that the issue with my 10/22 was me... I just suck at shooting. Great barrel, don't think you will be disappointed.

Surprised it shot the automatch well as compared to match grade ammo. Did you try a lot of different brands of ammo to find best groups? Thank you

Thank you. I'll be leaving the Shaw in the running but hopefully some that have compared both could also give some insight.
GM will be able to shoot hypervelocity except for Stingers by CCI & Shaw cannot shoot any hypervelocity ammo. Go for a 17" by GM, lotta high reviews from guys who got one for their 10/22. Planning on a wood or plastic stock?
Personally, I would not chose either one, but of the two, I would definitely go with Green Mountain. If not looking at a premium barrel, you might also look at Keystone, right there with GM. Very good for the money. I have had all 3. JMHO

Is this true? Is the chamber cut differently?

I do not think so. Pretty sure they have a Bentz chamber, but then I do would never shoot hyper velocity in any of my 22's, period.
Take a look at Shilen also, the builder I'm talking with about modding my 1022 highly recommends them.
Fedderson is very good and they are one of the few with a satisfaction guarantee.
With my Shaw I shot Norma TAC-22, CCI S-V, Aquila 40gr solids and some Magtech S-V. The Shaw shot all better than my Bergara BMR which surprised me greatly.

Have one of each, bought them based off of contour and external specs offered by each company. Both are built very similar, have similar chamber dimensions by companies with roughly identical qc and mfg technique. Coincidently they shoot as near as I can tell about the same.

I.was looking at the 17 from GM. I could do plastic or wood for the stock as long as its a good fit.

I have seen some people say that they liked them very much and they are affordable. I will check then out as well

Awesome. I have aquired a bmr recently and have found it to be the most ammo picky rifle I ever shot and I have shot many vintage and modern .22 rifles. I have some older .22's that i paid 150 for that outshoot my bmr and arent very picky. I also had quitr a few failure to feeds and failure to fires with the bmr using both sv ammo like cci and some match ammo as well. Kills me when a 1950s remington semi auto groups multiple ammos well and a 600.00 modern gun has ftf and ftf issues and inferior accuracy. Tried 12 different ammos in the bmr.

I've had both, and both were excellent shooters. One was not better than the other, in my experience. Only a VQ I had shot better.
Got my Shaw new for less than a $100, one main reason I picked it and am very glad I did.
