While not specifically called out, a set-trigger would be contrary to the spirit of the rules. I would expect any jury at a major match would reject the use of a set-trigger. A club match director probably wouldn't care.
That's a good point. There's a few "hunting" rifles that have set triggers, so it's not out of the bounds of the spirit of using a hunting rifle, but after being set would probably be less than 2lbs.While not specifically called out, a set-trigger would be contrary to the spirit of the rules. hunter rifle the trigger must be no less than two pounds and have a working safety. the rifle when in the ready to fire condition must pickup the two pound weight. in standard rifle the trigger must be a safe trigger. any safe weight and does not require a safety. That's a good point. correct. but you can use it in standard rifle. So the set trigger, unless modified to be 2lbs, would not be allowed in hunter class because nothing stops you from using it during a match. And a 2lb set trigger defeats the purpose of a set trigger
