Sept. 2022 50 Yard Iron Sight Shoot

I see this shoot as a place where we may keep track of our own shooting improvements, compare our shooting abilities with our fellow shooters, and to brag a little.

OK, let's start:
Iron Sight (Globe & Peep)
Matches start on the first day of each month and end on the last day of the month. Scores to be reported by the 6th day of the following month. A Score Bulletin with all shooters names posted on the 6th day of the following month.
TARGETS TO BE USED IN THIS MATCH: NRA A 23/5 target. Note: This target is only for 50 yards. Five shots are fired at each bull for a total possible score of 200-20X.

Ammunition is shoot what you have.
Optical front lens are permitted but limited to 1.5X. Shooters may use tube extensions on either their front or rear sights as long as they do not contain any optical magnification and the extensions do not form one solid tube between sights; i.e., there must be a distinguishable distance between the front and rear tubes making them separate. Shooters may use any type or color of front sight insert (clear, amber, etc.) and after market eyepieces or discs on their rear sight (Merit, Hadley, Gehmann, etc.) as long as the inserts or discs do not offer any optical magnification.

From the front edge of the bench to the face of the target: 50 yards. You may shoot on an indoor range, please note it when post your score.

The let's not:
have any rail guns, or benchrest stocks. Any rifle with a benchrest type stock or a custom action or a factory action that has been "blueprinted" will not be allowed in this class. A benchrest stock is one that has a forend with a flat bottom, more than 2.7 inches wide, and/or has the bottom of the buttstock parallel or near parallel to the bottom of the forend. Bench Rest Blocks (plates attached to the accessory rail or stock) are not permitted.

I would like for everyone to report their score and equipment information as follows
Example:
Your name or screen name, Rifle, ammo, score. This is the line I copy for the end of month score.
(chuck40219, Winchester 52D #1, Center X, 200 14X)
Equipment list (rest front/rear, any thing special about your setup)
Weather/or shot indoors
Excuses: Anything you would like us to know about your shooting day.
Would be nice if you could post a photo of your setup.

Hi everyone, old guy/new member here with a FNG question...

The rules state I may submit 4 targets per month for score - a single entry for score consists of 4 targets. Am I allowed only 1 entry per month per gun OR can I submit 4 entry's per month per gun?

Thanks!

OMG Buckie, those are some fantastic scores
Your ? is hard for me to understand. I will try to answer it. If I don't get it the first time let me know. I will be unavailable after this afternoon for a few days though.

I think most of us qualify as old guys here, with old eyes.

From what I understand you are asking is if a entry consist of 4 targets. One entry consists of one target. You may enter 4 targets per gun each month, and I don't hold people to that. At the end of the month I just record the highest score target for the month for that gun.

And yes buckie is the envy of most shooters here.

Chuck,
Thank you sir, I was confusing targets with individual bulls.

Without a scoring tool, I gave myself the benefit of a broken 10 ring on one shot. Twice during the match I adjusted for wind with a click. That saved me.

Nice target bay view. You can always use an unfired cartridge as a scoring plug until you obtain one But that is for sure a TEN
Today, my lower grade ammo did slightly better than some of my higher graded stuff. Its a good day when the occasional expected flier somehow hits the 10 ring.

Thanks Marvin.
That was my best so far. Keep in mind that I did not post pics of my less impressive targets that day.

Actually, I'm impressed with Buckie's 15 X's

49 3x, 49 2x, 49 2x, 47 1x. Score: 194 8x

After a long time living away from a decent range I've retired and am now living up north where I belong.
It was a fantastic day shooting with my son – fantastic because we were shooting together again NOT my miserable score!
