Turkey Creek the Ruger is just one of many that have two piece bolts. If my understanding of the matter is correct the designers of the two piece bolts wanted the bolt to make contact with the back of the cartridge but not rotate. I think the idea was that if you rotated the bolt you may well rotate the bullet in the lands and grooves and that would really cause accuracy problems.
