I'm sure they must provide them to keep the lawyers happy.
Those locks are required inclusions by federal (and several states) law. It'd be dumb to lose your FFL for not including one, but no one actually wants one, so the $0.50, "will open if you just threaten it loudly" lock ends up in there. I don't know what you'd ever trust one with, but in a pinch they sting pretty good if you get whacked with one.

Hmmmmm. I wonder.....if I use one as a defensive weapon, could it be considered a "gun injury or statistic"?
If I used it as an offensive weapon in a street fight, would that be a "gun crime"?

I also wonder what reaction my grandson would get if he used a firearms-labeled gun lock to secure his bicycle at school?

I use one to lock the rig to hold my pier cart to my trailer hitch, It goes in the trailer hitch and the cart goes on it. the cable lock can get connect the cart, the holder and the trailer hitch all tougher.
