I have been shooting for nearly 27 years and I can remember when I had my first .22 'dud'. Only about 8 years ago. Before that, never a bad round.
Luck of the draw or decline in quality control? I favor decline in quality control.
Now I expect to get one FTF and maybe several low powered rounds out of each bulk pack.
However, I pay less now per round than I did when I was a kid. Adjust for inflation and that is astounding! Reinforces lesson "You get what you pay for"
Failure rate old: 1 bad in ?k rounds.
Failure rate new: 1 bad, couple so-so, every 500 rounds.
This seems to be across the board with Federal, Remington, and Winchester bulk pack. ( I have yet to have a failure with CCI Blazer BAB fingers crossed knock on wood)
EDIT 5/8/03 Started new brick of Blazers today. They are AWEFUL stovepipes, underpowered rounds, etc.
Quality of ammo makes a huge jump once you are out of the bulk and buck a box realm.
