Hi Im new at this board, but I see lots of great info here.
I was given an m41 for Xmas this year from my wife, bless her. I have put about 500 rounds of Remington through it. I get about two misfires out of fifty. There is always a fireing pin strike on the rim. This seems consistent with use in my other guns too. Have any of you had this same experience with Remington ammo? Thanks.

mjr, there are a few folks on this board that will tell you ALL Remington ammo is "junk".
Personally, I don't find it to be the most accurate or consistent ammo available, but it works for "fun" shooting.
It does seem to have a few misfires (ESPECIALLY the bulk pack and or the Thunderbolts)

anything bulk pack should tell you something;) Remington Yellow jackets are great in the 10/22 or my MarkII or anything I have shot them in, Hyper velocity JHP coned bullet,$24.00 brick. Never had a misfire and I have been shooting them for 15 years at least;) they hold a good group, I found Winchester X the worse, misfires. and under loaded rounds, could never get a good group, I had one thud in my rifle one day had to take apart the rifle to check if the bullet was in the barrel still, It was not must of just made it out of the barrel, I have shot CCI's time to time, never had any good results to speak of, many flyers...Its hard with 22 ammo, due to the low cost of making them, the quality is not there compared to center fires, and of course you can't reload them either...I like to roll my own when it comes to center fires ;) factory ammo sucks for the most part, I guess for over all factory ammo, I would pick Hornady, Remington corelok's...for quality factory ammo...Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

Talked to a guy that buys Rem's Golden Bullet by the CASE. Claims its the best stuff he's shot for the price. I've always been a Blazers fan when it comes to cheap shooting. I bought a brick of the Golden's and had i dud in 150 rounds. This was shot in my Beretta 92 with .22 upper.

I did notice that the Golden's are hollow points where the Blazers are solids. Also took note there was a higher point of impact.

I gotta do some further testing in more guns before buying a whole case.

I have been shooting for nearly 27 years and I can remember when I had my first .22 'dud'. Only about 8 years ago. Before that, never a bad round.

Luck of the draw or decline in quality control? I favor decline in quality control.

Now I expect to get one FTF and maybe several low powered rounds out of each bulk pack.

However, I pay less now per round than I did when I was a kid. Adjust for inflation and that is astounding! Reinforces lesson "You get what you pay for"

Failure rate old: 1 bad in ?k rounds.
Failure rate new: 1 bad, couple so-so, every 500 rounds.

This seems to be across the board with Federal, Remington, and Winchester bulk pack. ( I have yet to have a failure with CCI Blazer BAB fingers crossed knock on wood)

EDIT 5/8/03 Started new brick of Blazers today. They are AWEFUL stovepipes, underpowered rounds, etc.

Quality of ammo makes a huge jump once you are out of the bulk and buck a box realm.

I do not like Thunderbolts. I do not like them in a plane, I do not like them on a train...

However, it seems that the 100 round boxes of "Target" aren't a bad deal for the money. Several of my shooting buddies are using it.

I have several boxes for testing in my MKII and CZ452...I like to see things for myself.

We used to be able to get Remington cyclone at $17.50 a brick, it never shot to point of aim in dads rifle or any of the .22's we have. We switched to Whinchester Super X Powerpoints at $60
a brick and I tell you it was worth the expense.
Our rifles group nice ly and it shoots to point of aim with iron sites.

I gave away my last box of Remington to a friend who just used it as inaccurate plinking ammo.

We have experienced misfires with Rem ammo. You take it out, move the rim around and fire again, most of the time it fired on the second time.

AZZA...

I would suggest that if you find something that doesn't shoot to point of aim but DOES group........

......change (adjust (mechanically)) your point of aim.

Other than that, we're mostly in agreement.

Do not be within 1,000 yards of this guy when he has a firearm.

Do not let him have any sharp objects.

Do not get into a car with this man.

Find the number of a good doctor and give it to him and beg him to seek help because he is a very sick man.

B.boxerskank,

First, I would like to welcome you to this great site. If your happy with remington ammo, then good for you. But I would advice you to try other brands since my experience with it is that there is no misfires but the accuracy seem terrible.:(

Ron, I tested 5 brands and 3 differing types of ammo until we settled on the Powerpoint.

My Anshults groups it in to a 3 shot cloverleaf at 50 metres, makes a five shot 1/4" hole when the barrel gets hot after 50 rounds.

My dads Lithow does pretty well with it too(using a Tasco Accudot).

My brothers long barelled "BULLY"(21") puts his shots in nice and tight with Winchester Super X Subsonics(never measured the groups)useing iron sights.

We tried the Reminton in a Bullet cather we own,in a factory(After hours) some years ago. Despite the fact their was no wind, the bullets never shot to point of aim and the bullets just walked accross the target. Grouping if you can call it that was like 5-8". Thats no over exageration, we still have the targets at home. Use em all the time to justify to fist timers why cheaper is not always better in rimfire ammo.

Cornbread, you sound like your afraid of that guys ability to shoot or something.

I'm normally a very placid person until you piss me off. If you had said that about me behind my back or to my face, I would personally want to make your face connect with my fist. This site is not about insults and trash. You wanna trash a site, going pick on some liberals.

The thunderbolts suck big time! The golden points or whatever they are for $10 for 550 at wally-world are great for playing with, just don't go for accurecy!! I have tried and tried it just won't happen!! I usually get about 5 to 10 jams per box.. wich isn't to bad for the money..... i really like just about any CCI but I can't see paying that for just plinkin.... I use CCI's for hunting! :)
