I have found a 540x the guy says it is in 90% condition.Says it has 26" barrel. He wants $400 for the rifle,is it worth it and would it make a good first bench gun. Are they easy to tune and does anybody have any tips or tricks that they're willing to pass on.
Thanks Jeff

The 540's are good guns and quite accurate. The price does seem a might high, but you did not mention anything else, coming with the gun, sights?, scope or mounts? If you get one, use the Burris signature rings and get a the full set of inserts. You can free float the barrel all the way to the action on this gun, if you want.
