Im looking to refinish on of my receivers back to it it original black.( It is black still but has scratches and worn) What did Ruger use to paint there receivers?

Thats hard to say, I believe they changes things from time to time. It will be easier and look better if you just strip the receiver and re-do it totally. Brownells carries alumihide (sp?) that looks good.
Try tal-strip II to remove any paint if you want to start over...found it at Advance Auto Parts for $7 a can and the stuff is wicked when it comes to removing paint...
