put my deposit down just waiting for the pistol permit to come in....any day now as my local police dept. says.
Model41 with 5.5 inch barrel. should i put a scope on it?
i never used a red dot in all my years, but the eyes aint what they used to be so im considering a red dot.
the store only had a bushnell and some other brand scope ( i forget what manufacturer). i was leaning towards an aimpoint and ooking for some feedback any one can give me.
1. do i need a red dot scop[e?
2. aimpoint (which model for my 41)or other manufacturer dot sight.
i know ill need to make the final decision, but always like opinions form other shooters.

Red dot sights are fantastic for shooters with aging eyes. You focus on the target and let the dot " float" on the target. You will notice a little more wiggle in your sight picture than you did with iron sights but thats about the only disadvantage.

Lot's of good red dots to pick from. The leupold, holosight, cmore, aimpoint, burris, and old japanese tasco's are all good. It's just like buying a regular scope, the cheap stuff is junk.

I did some tests a few years ago with a custom pistol that would shoot into 1 inch at 50 yards. I could not beat the groups I shot off sandbags using a red dot sight with a 2 power scope. I used a black bullseye target about 4" that the red dot just fit into. I'm convinced that you can shoot as well with the red dot as a scope unless the target gets really small or the distance greater than 50 yds. Plus the red dot is a lot faster if that matters.
