Price Increase Forced My Hand
Based on what I am seeing locally and online - The Tikka T1X MTR has taken a rather sharp price increase. They had been selling for $579.99 however the latest USA prices I see are $649.99. . . My procrastination seems to have cost me an additional $70 should I consider moving off the fence and actually buying one. 
I did searches on various sites last night and found "one" with a price that forced me off my perch as most places have quickly adjusted the pricing to $649.99 and most of the best-discounted prices are still in the $550 range. I still don't care for that black polymer stock but I'll deal with it for the time being. So, I completed the order today for a T1X MTR - 22 LR and await its arrival. I will pick up a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44 AO scope with a V-Brite reticle ( I like that center dot which can be illuminated if desired ) along with a set of Warne 722M rings and should be ready to put everything together in a week or so. Note - I have a Sako Quad Range ( 22 LR & 17 HMR barrels ) and a Tikka T3x Hunter in 223 so am somewhat familiar with the line.
While I'm fortunate to have a few of the classic rimfire brands am mostly a CZ 45x guy so am looking forward to seeing if all those Tikka T1X comments on the RFC hold true.
I will update the thread when all the pieces arrive and I get everything assembled.

So I have been very pleased with my T1X but keeping my eyes open, I came across something that is up unique... Knowing that T3 stocks fit on T1X actions, I came across a new takeoff Tikka Roughtech stock in the Ember pattern. Here she is. Fits like a glove and the barrel is fully free...

kwb377 - Nice looking setup - that turned out very well and I like the color scheme. I had been considering a cerakote finsh rather than a T3X stock swap but now have yet another option. Which compensator did you go with? That looks like an M*Carbo ( Ruger Carbine ) pad on the stock or something similar.I've got the same combo, love it. I hope to have the T1X in my hands next Tuesday and hopefully the scope, rings, and extra mags will arrive by then as well.
Can't remember which brake I bought (Doh!)...I bought it mostly for looks rather than to tame the recoil of the mighty .22.

The T1x rifle and the Vortex scope arrived, awaiting the Warne rings, but had a spare set of 1" high Leupolds so I went with that setup . . . at least for now. The first step was to disassemble and clean everything, the next was to replace the trigger spring as I had a spare ( ended up at 12.3 oz average for 10 cycles ). We put everything back together and mounted the scope and then bore-sighted. BTW - the borescope produced good impressions.
Note I have a T3 Hunter in 223 and T3x CTR in 6.5 CM so am somewhat familiar with the Tikka product.
T1x Initial impressions:
Noting my disdain for the T1x polymer stock since this product initially found its way to the LGS . . . finally buying a T1x and working with it over the past couple of days has not improved my attitude about it in any way. However, I will use it as close to out of the box as possible. ( yes as noted - I changed the trigger spring ). The rifle feels more like a toy than it does a firearm. The stock, trigger, safety, and magazine just seem flimsy . . . not very solid for a $600 rimfire - but it all seems to work. I am used to CZ 45x Varmint, wood-stocked configurations, and had a 455 Synthetic stock I used for a project. For me, the CZ 45x designs feel more solid.
With everything back together and the scope mounted it seems to function okay, however I was not able to manually cycle all the live rounds of a magazine successfully. A couple of rounds toward the middle or end of the magazine would not eject and therefore would create a jam as the next round was not able to be loaded. This happened with two consecutive magazines. I deep-cleaned the throat chamber, bolt, and ejector, re-lubed, and retested, using a bit more force when cycling the rounds I was able to get through all the rounds. We will see how this reacts in a live fire test at the range.
The stock is very slick and rather difficult to obtain a consistent cheek weld even though the scope is mounted very low. I had a spare cheek riser which provided a huge improvement in that area. It has a zippered pocket which has room for two extra mags I bought. ( By the way, the magazine springs rattle when empty ). Not sure what my long-term solution will be but expect a stock change will be in order. I kind of like Boyd's Agility or Pro Varmint but will hold off until I get some experience with the initial setup.
Not exactly the enthusiastic impression I was hoping for . . . but need to hold off on final judgment until we see range results from some bench and off-hand target sessions.
