Pretravel in Volq Trigger

Hey guys, New Guy here (both to the board and the wonderful world of the 10/22).

I have a question that has probably been asked before, but I'm going to ask anyway.

I bought a Volquartson Hammer and sear from Brownells for my 10/22. It dropped the pull down to about 2 3/4 lbs, but there is a LOT of pretravel in the trigger now. How do I go about eliminating this condition safely?

Also, is there any benefit to replacing the hammer spring with the one that is provided in the kit?

Thanks in advance for all of your advice. Probably won't be the last question I ask.

I'd keep the hammer spring stock, and I'd try going back to the original sear. Aftermarket sears won't gain you anything, normally, except the ability to say you have a custom one in the gun, and sometimes cause troubles like you describe, as well as problems with the safety...

BTW...welcome to RFC ! :t

Old Sear...

Hey thanks for the welcome....This is a great site. Wish I would have asked that question before I bought the sear. As a matter of fact, I just put the old sear back in, and went and shot it. No pretravel, just a very tiny bit of creep. Think Brownells will take this sear back?
I have doubts that they would take it back. As far as asking the question and whether it has been asked before...yes...lots of times... but it would be a pretty dull website if you couldn't get an answer and all someone did was tell you to do a search.

I think you will find this site very user friendly, and if you have a question, I'm sure ~someone~ here has a reasonable answer.. Great group of people we have here. None better on the web! :t
