I have a chance to shoot dogs this mon and tues, sounds like 95 degree weather. My question is, are the dogs very active through out the day. Sounds like a decent size town. Is mid Aug as good as any time? Thanks for any answers, Al

Don't know about Iowa, but I just got back from shooting 'em in West Texas. I've never seen so many big, bodacious, brazen prairie dogs in all my life. Swarms of 'em streaming across the road. But then, there has been plentiful rain out there for a change, crops are good, and the dogs - they've been breedin'.

Al,
What the heck did I do going all the way to North Dakota when I could have stayed in the corn patch and shot dogs. My Son and I went all the way to Bowman, North Dakota (almost into Montana) and there were absolutely hundreds of them running around at any given time in the couple hundred area we were hunting. Make sure the gun is sighted in well and have fun. We shot all of ours in the afternoon and they were out well. If it would not have been around 70 degrees that day we would have gone out closer to evening but at those temps they were out all day real well. There are no dogs in my part of the state so enjoy em if you got em. I don't know about seasons on them in Iowa. You might want to check. ;) Here is a link to my post. http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102039
