I'm just curious if anyone has compared the .17 Remington (CF) to the new .17 HMR.

forgive the CF here because I'm trying to help out a bit.

Due to the shortage of .17 HMR ammo, wouldn't purchasing a .17 remington be the way to go? Plus you can reload it. Or is it tough to get brass and bullets?

or does anyone even chamber a rifle in .17 Remington anymore?

I still see some dusty boxes of 17 Rem at the gunshops sometimes. I'm sure someone out there is still chambering it in their rifles. From what I have heared (have nothing to back it up though) 17 Remington is a barrel burning round. I guess it's useful life is relatively short compared to the other, more traditional, varmint rounds. Again, just what I have heard.
