The Ohio Division of Wildlife has a very nice public range at the Grand River Wildlife Area. It's covered, has nice benches and ballistic sand back stops. You should check it out. The cost it $3 for a one day permit, $25 for an annual. If you have a valid hunting or fishing license you can buy an annual for $10. You need to get your range permit before you get there, they don't sell them on site, they're sold anywhere Hunting licences are sold. You need to provide your own targets and target stand. Give the District 3 office in Akron a call if you have any other questions.

I second Big Bore. Is a decent indoor range. The salesman are nice and friendly. I wish I could find an indoor range that was longer but Big Bore is close to home and very reasonable hourly rate. Also on friday nights its ladies night and women shoot free. I have taken the "Girlfriend with two rings" over there a few time too. :)

Places to shoot

nextmayor,
you said you tried B&T, I'm assumng that's the new name for what used to be On Target in Lorain?
There is a pretty new indoor range/store/club in Lorain Co. that isn't quite as far as Lorain city. I believe it's called Northcoast, and it's on Colorado Ave.(rt.611) in the Avon/Sheffield area.
Nice new indoor facility with archery and gun ranges, and they also have the interactive video ranges for both interests. Not cheap, at $10. to $14., and their annual membership is a bit high also, but you pay for convenience.

I also recall hearing about a O.D.o.W. range like the one spades1 is talking about . I think it was out to the West like Findley or something. There again, contacting ODoW Akron would be the route to go for info.

Places to shoot- NE OHIO

3 Gun,
Thanks for the links, didn't know anything like that existed. I'd like to have some info added to the Youngstown Rifle and Pistol Club listing and see how to get our events listed on the calendar. Are you the right person to talk to?

Tnx,
Tom

Yep I'm the guy. I started the places to shoot and calendar pages because of the number of questions like this one we would get on The Firing Line. TFL is the best general knowledge gun board I've found on the net. Lots of shooters in Ohio have signed up on the mailing list I started in the Ohio role call link. Stop by and join the list if you want. Drop me a line about the shoots you'd like to be added. Include links, contact info, fees, eqpt needed, etc., for the events you'd like included. Thanks, Mark.
