Makes me want to ride around in the 78 alfa sports sedan just to be obtuse. To cold. Cool to see others have money pit passions also. You would think weapons or cars not both. I'm a very slow learner.
Yeah, same here. English sports cars are really neat, fun to drive and drive hard. But if you brother isn't a mechanic you are stuck. You might suspect those aren't real pictures because the hood is down. Lucus electrical systems were designed and installed by sadist. I guess the Brits have different expectations for their cars.

For the longest time I did those big American cars with the big engines. There is nothing on them past a lug nut that is not heavy. So I moved down to things like @Barksdale123 posted up, the good ole LBC (little british car). Never did a mini, but Triumph and MG, with a taste of Italy in Fiat as well as some German with Opel mixed in there for good measure. I SCCA road raced an Opel GT before 2000. Kinda blew that light weight thing right out of the water, 1.9L Opel engine is meaty. That head weighs a ton.
Yeah, the Opel's were kinda sleepers on the SCCA circuit.

Lucas is the "prince of darkness". Friends mgb gt was great, go through puddle and windshield wipers would go on automatically. Obviously an option to protect from over spray. The Italians, with the liquid lunch and martinelli electrics are a bit more dependable but equally archaic. Ahh the good old days!

I have had 5 fiat vehicles from x/19 to more current 500 abarth. What a hoot of ridiculous folley. 1994 miata m was the most reliable. Fused back has sent them all away. The sedate alfa sedan has the dubious charm of a mafia sedan with much more upright seating position. Much more suitable for a fused back. First world problems. Just need to work on a cheesey mustache drink a gallon of chanti and wave around a beretta. I'm sure the local constables will be understanding....

Speaking of electrical, it really is not unique to english cars, but cars that all used that natural rubber for the wires, it would just fall off and then the party started. We also need to remember in the hay day of these cars, 30 years ago, they are already older cars that have been through a few hands with questionable mechanical skills.

Fast forward to today and many of the "nice" examples are just fine. People put money into them so they can enjoy them. I hit a deer last month in my truck, and daily drove a 1967 Fiat 850 Spider to work and never had an issue.....past getting in and out of the little thing.

How is this for a pic with lots going on.....I do have the hubcaps, this is right after I got it running again in Oct.
