marlin barrels arn't atached like a 10/22. ( (If memory serves, they are pinned in. )They are designed to be removed/replaced by a smith ONLY. Anyting otherwise might be dangerous. Send it to Marlin .
However, you might consider hunting up a new/ used one or just live with it. Sounds like your within $80-$100 of a brand new one anyway.
