Hey folks,
I am new here, registered a while ago and been lurking mostly, just soaking up the shared wisdom... This is my first post.
I am getting my first (I know, I know...) 10/22 soon, and have decided on the TD-T model due primarily to versatility and in the hope that aftermarket barrels will become an option soon.
I have some mods in mind, but am looking to yous guys to help me not spend money on anything that wont work for my purpose, though if that does end up happening I fully intend to put those parts up in the pay it forward section. I want to make a BOB/GHB gun out of this take down, and as such, I am looking for a way to be able to use iron sights (or tech/peep sights if possible) without having to remove the scope. I am looking at both see thru rings or the elevated peek thru rail option to mount the optics. I am hoping to find an optic option that wont go past (or at least not too far past) the end of the receiver portion of the gun when it is broken down, and was hoping for non battery powered (i.e. no red dot) and was preferring a 3-9x or so scope, for versatility. I understand that non powered optics with that level of zoom might make for some problems in not blocking the iron or tech sights, but was wondering if anyone out there knows of a combo that would work for this? It's secondary focus (after BOB/GHB) is accuracy at longer ranges, and is why I am looking for a scope that goes that far in magnification. If combos are not avail for my proposed scenario, any and all advice is welcome.
I am not too flush with cash to be purchasing big$ scopes, but could feasibly spend $150-$200 on optics if I know it will work.
Also, any suggestions on other mods to fulfill this "philosophy of use" are welcome. I plan to get some sort of drop in trigger assembly (not experienced with gunsmithery), add a bipod, auto bolt release (may file the factory one down as I have seen on youtube), extended mag release, recoil buffer, all the normal cheapo stuff...
Then comes the cosmetics, replace the ugh-o stock flash suppressor, maybe a color change, etc.
In advance - Many Thanks for your input!
