I just got an email from Nighthawk that they now own Cooper Firearms.
January 5, 2023 in Berryville, Arkansas -

Mark Stone - Owner/CEO of Nighthawk Custom:

I am pleased to announce that Nighthawk Custom LLC has acquired Cooper Firearms of Montana, known for custom bolt-action rifles. The rifle company will now operate as Cooper Rifles of Arkansas LLC and will be located on the same campus as Nighthawk Custom in Northwest Arkansas. Nighthawk Custom will proudly be the exclusive distributor of all Cooper Rifles.

Customers of Cooper will be pleased to know that the name, legacy, and reputation of building high quality custom rifles will continue, and we as a company look forward to strengthening the brand and even improve upon the quality of the past.

We ask for your patience during this time of transition as we move all operations to Berryville, Arkansas. At this time, we are not able to give you an exact date that Cooper Rifles will begin operations. The process will take time, and our goal is to ensure the same great products and customer service from Cooper Rifles that you have come to know and expect from Nighthawk Custom. It will be worth the wait, and we know that you will be thrilled with the quality, craftsmanship, and our excellent customer support.

As owner and CEO of Nighthawk Custom, I am very excited about this acquisition. Cooper has a long reputation of building fine and accurate rifles for over 30 years. Each rifle will be built with 100% fully machined parts, stunning wood, hand checkering, and beautiful finishes that are a perfect fit with our existing offerings that we are known for.

Please like and follow Cooper Rifles social media and check out the website for the latest news and information. We will do our best to keep you up to date and informed on our progress.

Thank you for your continued support. We are excited for what 2023 holds and we are thankful that you are a part of it.

Sincerely,
Mark Stone
Owner & CEO

I hope this works out well for the Cooper line. I notice that Ruger has not re-introduced the 39a in the Marlin line. Seems to me that the rimfire models may be at risk.

Given the nature of the 39A, I would be surprised if Ruger brought it back. But then Cooper has been making high-end .22 rifles, so the new owners may still be inclined. And I hope so!

I hope so too! I "need" a Cooper Jackson Squirrel, trying to find one on different auction sites and whatnot, they are like unicorns...or unobtainium due to crazy asking prices.
It seems Vudoo, RimX, and several other high end rimfire manufacturers are doing well these days. I would think if the new owners know a thing or two about their business they can find a way to make a go of the Cooper rimfire line also. Time will tell

If you found one NIB, beautiful wood, caliber you want, would you pay 1.5 times MSRP which is around $6000? Or even 10% over MSRP? Around $4400.

Nope. The people that pay 1.5xMSRP are the reason prices are 1.5xMSRP.

Same reason I’m on the wait list for a Rolex GMT Pepsi for 5 years. I won’t pay over MSRP, but I can have one tomorrow for $20,000. And people will pay that and they do. Sucks for the guys that just really “want “ them.

I want a C8 Corvette, I don't have one for the same reason. I can afford 1.5xMSRP on one, but I won't pay it.

You just have to tell yourself I JUST BOUGHT IT EARLY. Believe me in 6 months you will forget all about it. Instead you will be saying I AM SURE GLAD I BOUGHT THAT RIFLE WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE..

If you have a look at varminter magazine on YouTube there is a shot show interview with Nighthawk about the acquisition of Cooper. Sounds like it’s going to be awhile for any new rifles.

Collectors drive the market and what prices will be . Look at the auction sites and watch who bids and you will get a feeling of what is going on. You can see who is bidding against you as it is the same bidders time after time driving the price up on coopers and kimber rifles.

A "newish" message from the new owner appears on the Cooper website. It basically tells us not to look forward to any new rifle production until late this year. I hope the plans described in the message work out, but until they do, I think I'll just quietly enjoy the one I have and keep my fingers crossed others can soon do the same.
Given the February note added to the contact line, I also truly hope that all this works out. Patience on the part of consumers (us) please.

As stated above, I will enjoy mine until........
I mentioned in an earlier post that I have four Cooper 57Ms. This, along with my Western Classic, is probably my favorite. It is cheating a bit, however, as it wears a Canyon Creek stock. Having said that, it should be noted that LeRoy and Connie Barry were the leading stock makers at Cooper in the early days, so there is a tie in. :) The rifle now wears a Leupold VX-2 6-18x40 AO scope.
