I hope this works out well for the Cooper line. I notice that Ruger has not re-introduced the 39a in the Marlin line. Seems to me that the rimfire models may be at risk.
I hope so too! I "need" a Cooper Jackson Squirrel, trying to find one on different auction sites and whatnot, they are like unicorns...or unobtainium due to crazy asking prices.Given the nature of the 39A, I would be surprised if Ruger brought it back. But then Cooper has been making high-end .22 rifles, so the new owners may still be inclined. And I hope so!

If you found one NIB, beautiful wood, caliber you want, would you pay 1.5 times MSRP which is around $6000? Or even 10% over MSRP? Around $4400.I hope so too! Nope. The people that pay 1.5xMSRP are the reason prices are 1.5xMSRP.If you found one NIB, beautiful wood, caliber you want, would you pay 1.5 times MSRP which is around $6000? Or even 10% over MSRP? Around $4400.
Same reason I’m on the wait list for a Rolex GMT Pepsi for 5 years. I won’t pay over MSRP, but I can have one tomorrow for $20,000. And people will pay that and they do. Sucks for the guys that just really “want “ them.Nope. The people that pay 1.5xMSRP are the reason prices are 1.5xMSRP.
I want a C8 Corvette, I don't have one for the same reason. I can afford 1.5xMSRP on one, but I won't pay it.Same reason I’m on the wait list for a Rolex GMT Pepsi for 5 years. You just have to tell yourself I JUST BOUGHT IT EARLY. Believe me in 6 months you will forget all about it. Instead you will be saying I AM SURE GLAD I BOUGHT THAT RIFLE WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE..I always end up over paying for rifles I like , then I
always pay way too flippin' much for rifles that I like & want.
... skwerl
Collectors drive the market and what prices will be . Look at the auction sites and watch who bids and you will get a feeling of what is going on. You can see who is bidding against you as it is the same bidders time after time driving the price up on coopers and kimber rifles.Nope. The people that pay 1.5xMSRP are the reason prices are 1.5xMSRP.
A "newish" message from the new owner appears on the Cooper website. It basically tells us not to look forward to any new rifle production until late this year. I hope the plans described in the message work out, but until they do, I think I'll just quietly enjoy the one I have and keep my fingers crossed others can soon do the same.i really hope this is a good move for them, i own 3 of their rifles an love them all but I'm not sure why cooper keeps changing hands over the years.
Sweet!I mentioned in an earlier post that I have four Cooper 57Ms. This, along with my Western Classic, is probably my favorite. It is cheating a bit, however, as it wears a Canyon Creek stock. Having said that, it should be noted that LeRoy and Connie Barry were the leading stock makers at Cooper in the early days, so there is a tie in.The rifle now wears a Leupold VX-2 6-18x40 AO scope.
