Bought this Ruger about two weekends ago and shot over 500 rounds through it. I am very pleased with this gun as far as shooting and looks. I bought a set of rosewood left handed grips from ebay and got them today, went to put them on and realized that one of the grip screws did not have all of the treads and I could not get it to thread back into the hole and tighten up  . Called Ruger and they are sending me some new screws so I have to wait to try the new grips. I must say that I am very pleased with Ruger, they took care of my problem in less than 3 minutes.....wow! :D

:p Plinker: Good looking gun! That is the 5.5" slabside barrel, right? I am saving my $$$ for a new gun right now, and that model in blue or stainless is heading the list. Darn, the process is soooo slow!

Thanks and yes it is the 5.5. I was going to get a MK III but happened upon this one at the local gun store. I just ordered the Rose wood LH grips for it and will post another picture once they are installed :D .

New Ruger with LH Grips

Still waiting on the grip screw but wanted to post the new gun with the new grips. I am a little disapointed due to the slight roughness but they were used so can't complain much.

Nice Pistol Plinker:
I have had a blued Mk II 512 for many year's. I own that and a 70's Series Colt Gov. Model .38 Super. The main reason I picked up the Ruger was that the balance is very close to the Colt. The Ruger MkII 512 is by far my favorite. Once the initial cost for the gun and accesories is covered, where elce can you have that much fun for a few bucks?
Mine tend's to shoot nearly as well as many peoples rifle's I have seen.
From a rest , it is not hard to hit can's out to 100 yard's , and chipmonk's die here on a regular basis out to 40 - 45 yards. Darn few escape at 35 or less.
I have to say the real beauty of these pistol's is the amount of practice you can get for the cost of a brick of shell's. And practice is what make's us all better shot's.
Good Luck and Good Shooting. :Blasting_
